I love Mahjong games and I don't think I've come across one like this before. There isn't much of a story, other than you are taking part in a contest to achieve champion status. The levels are grouped into various stages of the tournament and you start as a candidate. What makes this game different and, in my opinion, unique from other Mahjong games, is that each level has 3 goals to achieve, thereby 3 stars to go for. The goals are varied, earn X points, complete the level in X moves, find X golden tiles, finish within X time. It does get challenging to meet all 3 goals. Another good thing about this game is that you do not need to get all 3 stars per level to progress through the stages. You do, however, need to have a certain amount of points to unlock the next group and if you have difficulty achieving all the points in one group, you can go back and replay any 1 or 2 star level in any previous group to raise the points. This is a game where you can challenge yourself to achieve all 3 stars per level, or play in a more relaxed fashion. Strong replayability. Game play is smooth, tiles are clear and the music is pleasant and unobtrusive. I hope the devs create more Mahjong games like this.

I played this game quite a while before deciding to review it. I wanted to give it a fair shot. Unfortunately, it doesn't get better. Not that it's bad, exactly. The premise is a world mahjong tournament, but really, it's just one game after another. The only twist is that you're playing for a one, two or three star rating, depending on how many of the round's goal you achieve. If you accumulate enough stars in the first 30 games, then you can go on to the next stage. But who really wants to play the same game over and over just to add another star? You might have been two seconds late completing the round, or didn't accumulate enough points, or didn't complete it within the required number of moves. I see no reason to replay a round over and over to achieve the goals just so I can get to the next game and do it all over again. But if I don't replay the game until I have enough stars, I'll be prohibited from going to the next round. Kind of a "Catch 22," and I can't be bothered.

I was disappointed with this game. Except for the premise -- entering a mahjong tournament -- there is nothing special or different about this game. There are three tile designs: a traditional, one composed of numbers and letters like children's blocks, and the third set looks like a deck of cards. It was odd playing them. None of them are very attractive or crisp and clear, nor were there any exciting animations or power ups. The music, however, was nice. This one deserves a trial run before purchase or using a credit to be sure it suits you.
