I'm assuming GH is going to officially release a fixed version very soon, if they haven't done so yet.

Hey everyone -- there's a bug in the game. Until GH can release a fixed version on the site, check out the fixes mentioned in this thread:

I like that idea, though I wonder how that would work with a game release. It's either a premium game or not. I've seen "premium" releases from EA which gets you fancier packaging and maybe a little booklet (not worth it for me.) But with downloadable games that'd be harder to do. I'll bet GH brings the price down after sales start to slow down, so the only price we little people will have to pay is time.

I think paying $10 for a game is fair. I'll shell out $50 for a PS3 game now and then, and I'd do $20 for a high-quality game online once in a while...but if I do that I might as well just use my FunPass and play em all.

HOG = Hidden Object Game (or the stock symbol for Harley Davidson )

I also noticed that the new game daily is no longer on the site. I'm assuming that GH is trying to build a collection of higher-quality games instead of trying to fill in the calendar with any game that they come across. As much as I liked checking back every day to see what new game was released, I didn't always play the game, so I guess it's not really a big deal. I'd take fewer game releases if the games they do release are hand-picked and awesome.

That being said, I wish there were more awesome games in other genres. HOGs aren't really my style, but it's my understanding that it has a pretty big following. I guess they gotta feed the masses. In the meantime, I'll keep playing Collapse and Build-a-Lot.

Apparently some people have been able to fix the problem by running Windows Update and updating their machine. I would try that first because it's an easy thing, and because it's good to get the latest updates, anyway. If it doesn't fix Mortimer, come back to the other solution.

Hopefully GH can release a fixed version on the site soon so we don't have to do this... In the meantime, try the fix and enjoy the game!

I have a fix!

I was having the same problem -- crashing right after I enter my name. I talked to a developer friend of mine and he helped me find a workaround. Here's what you need to do:

1. Go to http://drop.io/lostkingfix and download the lkgs0.dat file. (This is the file that saves your name in the Lost King.)

2. Open "My Computer" and go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application Data\LostKing\
(For me the username was "user" because I only have one user on my machine.)
On Vista that would be C:\Users\Your Name\Appdata\Local\LostKing\

3. You should see a lkgs0.dat file already in that folder. Drop the file you downloaded into that folder and overwrite. What you're doing is replacing the broken file with a user file that already has a user in it, bypassing the glitch.

4. Restart the game. You should see a user named "Mortimer" already there. Go ahead and create a new user for yourself and play the game!

I think the issue is less of a "GameHouse.com wants more money" issue than a "Game developers need to earn enough to feed their families" issue. With so many companies getting into the games business, prices go down (which is good for us gamers, of course) but it also means there are a lot more crappy games to sift through. So if a really good game comes around, I would think the developers deserve a little more than the base rate... and I'm assuming GH is thinking the same.

I'm all about saving money, but I'm also for supporting the developers that deliver high-quality games (PopCap, GameHouse, TellTale, etc....).

With FunTicket, you pay $6.99/month and get one game per month (your choice), which you can play without being connected to the net and can keep forever. You can also buy extra games at the $6.99 rate.

With FunPass, you pay $19.99/month and get access to every game on the site with unlimited play time. You do need to be connected to the net to play the game, though. If you want to be able to play a game offline or after you cancel, you can buy games at the $6.99 rate.

I agree the subscriptions are a little confusing, but after being on the site a while I think I've the hang of it. It comes down to what kind of player you are. If you generally pick a game or two and play it nonstop for a month (or more), sign up for FunTickets: you'll get a credit for one full game every month that you can play without being connected to the net, and you keep it forever.

If you are like me and like to try out a lot of different games, FunPass is definitely the best option. It's basically Netflix for games: for a fixed price, you can download as many games as you want and play them as long as you want while you're a member. (You'll have to buy the game if you want to play without being connected to the net or if you cancel your subscription.)

Now, back to Plants vs Zombies...

You don't need to redownload everytime you want to play.

To launch your RealArcade games from the site, Go to the My Games page (http://www.gamehouse.com/my-gamehouse). Click on the "See My RealArcade Games" link at the top of the page. Your games should appear on that page with play buttons. If you don't follow that RealArcade link, you'll only be seeing a list of purchased games, which doesn't have a play button -- just a redownload link. (Doesn't mean you need to redownload every time.)

The better way is to click the icon on your desktop (if it's still there) or Click on the Windows Start menu, then click the Games folder (or the Real folder, as it is for me). GameHouse games will be in the GameHouse folder.

I'm curious: do you see any of your 100+ games in the Windows start menu?
Check All Programs > Real > Games, or All Programs > Games

What about the My Games page? Go to http://www.gamehouse.com/my-gamehouse and click on the big blue button that says "RealArcade My Games"

You shouldn't have to redownload every game to play them after the transfer.

If you do redownload, you'll be getting the GameHouse version, so you'll need to log in to register your game the first time you play it. If you're not able to log in (but are connected to the net), I'm guessing your username/password combo is wrong. Go to your My Account page and check the email address associated with the account and perhaps update your password.

I haven't had any problems myself. It sounds like the problems people are having are with specific games, not with the entire site. Customer support isn't terrible -- they're obviously motivated to keep customers, but there's nothing slimy about their tactics. If you have problems, they'll give you a free game or extend your membership for free --- just have to be persistent.

I'd recommend the FunPass over FunTickets, though -- it's never failed me, I don't have to deal with license issues, and I get to play any game on the site as long as I want, which is good because I'm ADD

Yep -- two different subscriptions:

FunPass: download as many games as you want and play them as long as you want. No time limits, no ads, full versions. When you cancel your subscription, you'll no longer be able to play the games. If you want, you can buy individual games at the discounted price -- this would allow you to play the game even if you're not connected to the internet or you cancel your FunPass subscription.

FunTicket: each month you get a ticket which allows you to download the full version of any game you want for free. The game is yours forever --- even if you cancel. If you want more than one game per month, you can buy additional games at the discounted price.
