Nick,

Thank you very much for the update! Keeping us informed as to what's happening on your end is a crucial part of our plans to resurrect this historical archive.

Just to give you and your IT folks some perspective to the level of interest, a thread on the Sudoku Programmers' Forum about this crisis has had well over 13,000 hits since the Players' Forum woes began.

I'd like to repeat my offer to obtain the drive from the crashed server in the event of a less than complete restoration. Can you address this possibility, please? This can be arranged at no cost to you or GameHouse.

Many thanks, and hope to hear from you soon.

Two weeks now and not a word. Nick, how about an update, please?

Nick Hernandez, it has been one month since we last heard from you! Please respond with an update. What about the offer above for the drive?

Please, don't leave us hanging like this.

Luke

The machine that was hosting the original forum and it's content had a severe hard drive failure and we're currently looking into solutions for recovering the data. We're not sure if a backup was maintained and what condition that backup might be in (the forum has essentially gone untouched since we purchased the domain and site from the original owner). I'll keep you posted on the progress on that front.

For the time being you are all welcome to use the GameHouse forum.

Thanks, Nick. That's something positive!

If you run into trouble on your end, would it be posible for us Forum members to get our hands on the hard drive from the crashed server? If they are just going to ashcan it, we would certainly like to have it. I would personally pay for the drive, and cover any costs involved, including shipping, etc.

Thanks,
Luke

Hi, nhernandez! Nick, right? Thanks for letting us know what happened.

I'd like to add my voice to those hoping the forum content can be retrieved. I'm pretty sure you are aware that the body of work in the Players' Forum represents the development and history of sudoku. It is an invaluable record of how the depth and greatness of this game was revealed. It simply cannot be tossed aside, and if anyone can help us here, I'm sure it's you.

We have some very sharp computer/programming experts among us who are ready to do what's necessary to help. I'm simply hoping for open communication.

The server "died." Is the any redundancy/backup?
Can you address this issue in your meetings this week so that is doesn't get lost in the shuffle? A lot of people have the work of many years riding on this.

Thanks a million for anything you can do!

Luke
