Games for Windows 7

i just bought a new laptop with win 7. was using vista until yesterday. seems i can re-download most of my games (the ones i tried), BUT most of them i CANNOT play. i tried changing the compatibility, nada. they open up to the very first screen - the company logo, and freeze. i know that they weren't listed as win 7 compatible, but gee whiz (LOL) i'm out lots of money now!
