AWwww! Stinky is adorable! He helps you pick up coins that your plants give out when they are happy but sometimes that's a big job and he gets sleepy. Chocolate wakes him up and gets him working. If you feed chocolate to your plants that are fully grown and "glowing", they give out coins faster than usual. Also, the chocolate doesn't actually fall from the sky but you earn them like coins when you are killing zombies. I don't think it happens the first time you play the game through but during subsequent trips through the levels.

As I was replaying the front yard levels, I waited until the last zombie - didn't kill him but planted walnuts in his path and proceeded to replace the rest of the yard with sunflowers. It took a little while but it was worth it!
