best of luck to hubby. It's great to know that we ( in spite of the huge costs of health care )
have the best physicians the world can offer. I hope the two of you have a mindset that a very positive mental attitude is important in dealing with medical issues. Please keep us posted as events pass.

Lynne, so sorry to read of your trials right now... such a lot for you to be carrying. Have faith, most of all in each other, and keep each other strong and hands held tight. And have faith, as poppa pointed out, in the doctors. They can do amazing things, and I've witnessed it with my own spouse. Sending you love and strength.

rough night here. just got back from the er with hubby. he had serious inter-cranial pressure and a migraine. so we called the on call doctor who sent him straight to the er. pressure is still there but the migraine is. gone. they gave him some meds to reduce the pressure. they are starting to work slowly as they are diuretics. they did several tests and something is definitely up with his shunts. so now we wait until Wednesday for the rest of the info.

mooma thank you ever so much!

home from the neurologists at long last. we got worked in due to er trip last night. phew what a day. tomorrow we see the neurosurgeon to figure out what we are going to do. there is definitely a problem with his shunts. last night's x rays showed that the left shunt is not connected to the catheter tubing. so definitely need to do something. will let you all know as soon as i can what is up. he is better today as the migraine is gone but the pressure is still there. thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. they are beyond value and are keeping me sane and calm.

Hey lil Lynne thanks for the update. I'm glad to be reading he is doing better today and yes hopefully they can do something. My thoughts and hugs are going out to both of you.

Oh and you know what lil Lynne? Don't cry because you think we are amazing as we all have our trials to go through at times. Life is pretty overwhelming at times for all of us but the thing about that is, there is always someone to help get you through even a forum such as this. As for crying, if you feel the need to do so, well you go right ahead. Sometimes just need to let it all out, ya know? And that's OK. That's no sign of any kind of weakness in my opinion anyway. Not good to keep it all bottled up inside. So you just do what you need to do to get through each day. Just take it one day at a time and know that we are here for you. Just take care of yourself and hubby too the best that you can. Now don't you go a spending too much time on the crying but every once in a while it is a good release, to let it all out as I said. OK!

Yes and do keep us posted as soon as you can!

to your husband!

If you need anything at all just let me know I'm here for you anytime day or night just give the word. I will be thinking and praying for you tomorrow and I hope everything goes well and that your hubby feels better real soon. Thinking of you both and sending big hug's and lots of love your way. thanks sporty and miss g! hi all well we have to take hubby to a different hospital about 6 hours away. to shans in gainesville florid for more tests. there are test that need to be run that are not available here locally. so it takes about 2 weeks to get an appointment. the surgeon definitely thinks something is up considering all his symptoms they just don't know what. his symptoms are migraines, coordination problems, balance issues, pressure around his shunts and a ton of other things. so we wait....

That's a really good thing, lynne... his stress will be lessened so he won't add to his own symptoms with that. And once we accept something, it's sooo much easier to get through... and easier on you, also.

MY dear couch sharing friend, I just found out about your hubby and came out of hibernation to let you know that you are loved. I've been on both sides of the bed and know how hard it is for both of you, but also know how much your presence is being appreciated. You have been thru so much and stand so tall and strong..you are a gem. A diamond in the rough! lol! But seriously, I have learned a lot from you. (dedication, faith and fortitude)
I have been in a lot of pain myself for a few months with out relief so just pulled the covers over my head but I know you must also be in pain and push on so please tell me something to get me going. I don't know how you do it but give you a lot of credit.

I will pray for you and your hubby and also send you some {{hugs}}

aww room thank you so much. honestly what gets me out of bed everyday is simple. i can lay in bed and mourn all things i have lost due to the chronic pain or i can get up and live my life. yeah there are days i need to take a nap (a lot of days) and days i hurt so much i don't move from the bed more than to change location. so get up and live!

Hey lil Lynne I'm so glad things are mellowing out for you. Yes and you're correct as I deal with chronic pain every day as I have pretty severe RA which I've had for the past almost 21 years now. 99% of the time I'm pretty upbeat, positive, motivated but I do have them days just like everyone else where you don't think you can get up and go. Cause there are days it takes me at least a good hour if not longer to get moving and that's when I usually turn to the "Swayze" I call it. Patrick Swayze as that's my hero there. I will get on this computer and watch that last video he did before he passed talking about his cancer, laying on floor and taking everything he's got to get up and do that TV show he was working on. He sure did get going though and worked on the show. Well after watching that, that always lights a fire under my @$$ so to speak to get up and get moving.

My boss sometimes says to me at work... "You really look like you're hurting today." And I always say... "Yeah but I've got my "Swayze" on and you just watch and see what I pull off here and those are usually my most productive days at the day job.

Hi guys, I knew you could relate with having similar health problems and pain. I have always had the same idea that you can either sulk or smile at the hand life has dealt you, and I have had some winners... but lately the new medication I'm on for seizers has put me into a funky brain fog. That combined with the pain makes me just melt into the couch for a moment in time that ends up being the whole day.

...new program: I think I can! I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!... thanks for the kick in the butt, hope you both are doing well today and we get to chat again soon.

Well hey there Ms. Roomy it's great to see you here and yes I know what you mean about the medications and putting you in a funk brain fog though I will say so far and hopefully never do have to deal with seizures. I've been on A LOT of the what I call nonsense however over the years for my RA - major weight loss/gain, deep depression, and one piece of nonsense I was on I had to have a blood transfusion. Been dealing with the RA thing here since I've been 18 and I'll be 40 this year so as Mooma stated earlier once you learn to accept what you've been dealt makes it a whole lot easier.

What do I take for the RA now? A whole lot of nothing really. Just a whole lot of positive attitude and a few arthritis pain pills once I get up and going (which is the challenge) usually does it for me and one of the reasons I usually work so many hours because when I'm there a typing on that keyboard, got the music a going a whole different person because I take that pain and put it into my work. I don't feel it near as much because I'm focused on my work. Yes typing and I have some pretty ugly hands from surgery and arthritis. The experts told me back in 1995 that I would never be able to type again to find another line of work. Quit the day job and find something else but the stubborn gal that I am and that NO word is a pretty powerful word with me, I went and found a job that required even more typing and went from about 30 to 40 words a minute to a whopping about 100 with a few typos thrown in there.

If I dug my grave every time one of the experts told me something well I'd be eating chop suey in China by now. I'm pretty pain tolerant just like that late Patrick. After about 21 years now just use to it. I also get this A LOT at the day job

Is it easy? Heck no it's not at all. As I told lil Lynne earlier about the crying as it's OK. I've had days where I break down and cry and it's usually for about 10 minutes, enough time to watch the Patrick clip on my computer. When I'm finished watching that... Then thinking to myself.... "Well now that I've got that all out of my system." Go on about the day the best that I can. I've been told I'm going to slow way down some day. Well aren't we all but in the meantime I'm kicking butt and taking names as the saying goes until that day comes which I know it will eventually.

You just hang in there Ms. Roomy and you too lil Lynne and hubby. I'm sending hugs and strength to you both.

Ms Sporty, thanks so much for the pep talk. I too have had RA/OR and fibro for years with having survived cancer twice (kemo, radiation & surgery) heart attacks, plus a multitude of problems that came along as a result of treatment...ha. I remember being told that "the cure" could kill you. Well there have been some days I wish it did...but I'm too stuborn. I also spent a long time depressed until I realizied it can always be a lot worse so why complain. I like to call it 'sharing' so when I hear what others are going thru I don't feel so bad...silly huh. And coming here to just let loose was so nice. really helped many days.
I'm so glad you have been able to work thru the pain. I used to love to paint and play with clay but now my left side is numb and doc's won't give me pain med's. just tylenol and that don't cut it. Don't get me wrong I'm not looking for pity but it is good to know I have peeps out there pulling for me. I'll try to blow out the cobwebs more often so I can stop by to visit.

Hey there Ms. Room:

That's all I was doing too was 'sharing' as you had stated because I know that there are people who have more health issues than myself and that's another thing that keeps me going. I'm also not looking for pitty either nor will I give it to anyone. Don't have time for that nor will I take time for it (receiving pitty or giving it) but if someone needs hugs and strength well I'm willing to do that. I've also been told throughout my life here that you're never given more than you can handle. For the most part I believe that cause I believe the more stuff that's thrown at you just makes you a stronger person but I'll be honest there are some days I question that but just keep plugging along the best I can.

PS. I'm one of the peeps who is pulling for you and lil Lynne and her hubby. Sending more hugs and strength to ya all.

Hay all... (yeah, that's hay for horses... or cows...) so good to see my roomie posting here... hey, room-mate! I knows ya, yes I do, and the pain you feel I feel for you... and me too! Go through the grinder meself some days, but you've got it, sporty... pity ain't too pretty. Honestly, I guess I pity the bum who lies in the street and feels no worth or no reason to get up and move or ask for help... I pity the child who lies tossed aside before they can speak for themselves. But the rest of us have gotta get up and move on, and if our problem is operable, then god bless the surgeons who have studied our illness. So there's no one here whom I pity, only those whom I love and wish the better for. Let us light each others sparks.
