There are a lot of games, mostly of the HOG variety, wherein the developers have issued higher priced editions. They have different names based on where the games are offered. I want to know your feelings about these collector or platinum editions et al. Personally, I have never contemplated one buy of these games. I can afford them but I have yet to see where I get the extra bang for my buck. To spend double the cost I get a bonus chapter, a strategy guide, wallpaper, screensavers etc. Let's say the average game takes 4-5 hours to complete. In the regular edition I pay around $7 for the game. If I double the cost, I get maybe an extra 1/2 hour of game time. I rarely need a strategy guide and the other perks are to me a waste of $$$. I can certainly wait the 3-4 week interval between the issuance of the 2 versions. I am not knocking anyone who wants the special editions. Let the lounge know what your thoughts are about this topic.
I for one don't want the premium editions. I don't want them taking up the space on my computer.
It is just as easy to read a walkthrough from another site that has them.
Being a gamepass member I'm ineligable to get them with my gamepass tickets. But if I could I would'nt.My gripe still is why the heck do gamepass tickets have to expire? I pay yearly and no one gives a good answer.I should be able to have as many credits as I want.I paid for them...sorry off the topic
Well, considering most of those platinum games are sophisticated HOGs and require more brain cells than I have to invest on games, I'd say no, for me they're not worth extra. I don't have the patience for a game that requires a strategy guide, either. Wallpapers, screensavers--no on those, too. I'd rather look at pics of my dogs. So, the answer is no value to me but it may be to others. I've yet to have a fit because a platinum was released before a premium or standard (funpass playable), but I can imagine I could plant an attitude if a game I really waited for, like Delicious/Emily or a new Farm Frenzy, came out as platinum and I would have to wait for a funpass version. I understand the need for companies to do something to generate more income, though. Imagine if your salary was suddenly cut in half (like the drop in the price of games). There would probably some scrambling to fill in somewhere (or just go on food stamps).
I don't normally buy Premium/Platinum games, feeling they are not worth it.
However, I did get Emily Childhood Memory Premium, but it was a gift and I didn't pay. And rather guiltily I did buy Royal Envoy 2 Platinum, because I really couldn't wait for the normal addition.....it was like waving sweets in front of a child!!! Please don't tell my mum!
Was it worth buying it? Well I did get it right away, I did get 30 extra levels and because I have Funpass I got 30% off, so no I don't regret it and it was worth it to me.
So I guess my answer to the question is: if the game was something I really couldn't wait for and the bonus items were enough, then yes. Otherwise, no.
I would never buy a HOG ce. The Ce's I buy are time management and I expect about ten extra levels with a stategy guy. Wallpapers and screensavers that I never will use.
