Thank you for letting us know. a lot of us were wondering about him. Ouch! That poor little guy. What are they taking out? a piece of the cartledge? Really, that is a simple outpatient surgery these days. How long will he be incapacitated this summer? He has my prayers and good thoughts untill this is over.

I don't know if it's similar, but a couple of years ago I tore the meniscus in my right knee. MD did arthroscopic surgery in the surgery center where the offices are. I was fully sedated for the procedure and when it was over I never had any pain, never needed crutches or a cane or any medication. This happened at my age 61 ( hurt the knee jogging ). So many medical procedures today are painless and quick. Hope this is the case for Lynne's kid.

Wow Lynne my heart goes out to you as I have went through this with my little girl but she had to have both of her knees done at the same time and was in a wheelchair for a few months so I know how you feel right about now. Thanks for letting us know and I know he will pull through with flying colors and be back to himself before you know it. You and he will be in my thoughts and prayers and if you need someone to talk to I'm here for you because I know how you feel. Tell him to hang in there and everything is going to be A- OKAY ! Good luck and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hug's to you both !

Well, Lynne, you will just have to spoil him terribly this summer and make it special for him. Just make it the summer he'll never forget in a good way. When does school start back for him?

Hail for arthroscopic surgery... at least it makes it a minor procedure instead of a major one. Good luck and healing thoughts to your little guy, lynne. And candylv, no matter HOW bored he is, I don't really think he wants school to start early. Lol! (only from a school teacher...)

Wow, Aug. 10, lynne... our kids just got out on June 24th. They start day after Labor Day. So great that he loves it and looks forward to it. When mine was younger she liked it also, but those summers were never quite long enough.

the worstpart of an MRI is the machine is so darn noisy. Other than that it's a piece of cake.
Lynne, how young is the kid? I can understand his being scared if he's a toddler. If he is ambulatory, I suspect any procedure done to the knee will be of the scope variety and he probably will not even do an overnight at a hospital. Kids are so resilient, he'll be back to normal in no time.

he is 10 poppa. the only question we all have right now is how much damage there is. it has been almost 3 months now. and the hospital waited seven weeks to contact me about it all. any surgery will be scope and then crutches unless there is damage.

I'll be so glad when all this has ended for you both but I'm sure nobody wants that more than you two. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and if there is anything you need don't hesitate to ask. Hug's to you both.

lynne, sure am glad you finally got an answer to the prob at hand or should I say 'knee'..hehe. But sad that your little guy will have to sit out the rest of the summer. With all the games and vid's out nowadays he should be fine until school starts. Hope his surgery goes smoothly and the recovery is quick. I will keep him and you in my prayers for sure. Hugs to you both.

Oh my lynne it seems so soon, but it guess you will be glad when it's over and he's home, huh. Do you have plans for the rest of the week--things to do with him before surgery? Does he understand everything that is going to happen to his knee and what to expect? Hope you don't think I'm being nosiey, if so I'm sorry. Plez pass along a special hug to your son. Later friend.

okay the good news no surgery. now don't get excited yet. the bad news in the bone in his knee is damaged. so for 6 months we have once a week therapy. xrays every 2 months. he is on crutches and a non locking knee brace. hopefully his growth will heal the bone and if not he will have permanent damage

Lynne I'm glad to hear he doesn't need surgery and I'm sure you are as well and maybe this will go ahead and heal quickly for him we all know how kid's can heal quicker than we sometimes think so hopefully this will be one of those times does he still need the crutches even while he has the brace on or can he use the brace without them. So glad to hear that he is doing good tell him to hang in there and it will be over and done before he knows it and mommy needs to hang in there as well and if you need anything at all I'm not hard to find. Hug's and kisses to both of you.

Lynne, I am so glad that Cam did'nt have to have the surgery. I have been holding my breath about that all week and praying for him all month. However, being on crutches and a brace for 6 months will be trying for him, especially at school. Is his school all one level? The good news is that he's young and he WILL heal and your friends here at GH will keep him in our prayers untill it's all over. Thank you for keeping us informed, we really do care. Good luck with the S.S. trial Thursday. Mainly, you are always approved when it gets that far. Let us know about that as well.

oh my! lynne, I am saying extra prayers for you both tonite my friend..I know you are happy about not needing surgery but this almost seems harder to me. He will have to be real careful not to do anything wrong and you will be on pins and needles watching him. Is he still in a lot of pain? Do they have him of any med's for it if so and will that interfer with his school work? Oh no, here I go again being a budinski. I'm so sorry lynne, just the way I am I guess. He sounds like a good kid and you seem to have things under control but please remember that you are loved and thot of by me too, so I'm sending you hugs, kisses ( of the hippo knid, LOL) and positive thots your way to keep you strong. Thanks for your friendship.
