More and more ads

Hi all! I'm new to the forums, but needed to vent ..... I was originally a long time member of Real Arcade. When they sold out to Gamehouse, I became a member here. Happy thought, huh? I have a pet peeve, and that is, all the ads. Lately it seems ads have taken over Gamehouse. Up until now I've tolerated what I can't control. It's just going over the top. I just d/l'd a Trial game. Much to my dismay when I opened it to play the 1 hour game? Doesn't this ****** screaming ad start rolling!! So if you don't play the hour all at once, you get to see it at every beginning, but will also pop up inbetween levels. We're paying members. Why should we have to tolerate all these ads? I'm considering canceling my membership. Ok, I'm done.

Thanks for allowing me to vent

Hi Hermette. You must have FunTickets and that's why you're opening the trial? If you have FunPass, just click to play and the ads don't come up.

I can understand the original posters frustration. I am very disappointed with gamehouse and all of the ads.
I downloade a trial game that I wanted to play and see if I liked it.
What I got instead, was the free version of the game, which I have no control over. If I click try the game, I get an ad every few minutes.
The only way to get rid of the ads is to buy the game.
I don't mind the ads in the games, but if the game has the ads then they should be listed under a separate button.
Some sites separate the games so that you up front that you are getting a game that has the ads.
I am very disappointed with gamehouse, I wanted to play the game without all of the ads.

Yes, GH does have a long list of games now that are basically "free" with the ads, and yes you have to purchase the game to get rid of them. But in one sense this is a real plus because there are so many "free" games out there, albeit with ads. Some get used to the ads (you can click them off just about as soon as they start) and are happy to have an entire game without having to pay for it. Kind of like the "free" featured game of the day... it has ads, but it's free. There's actually a long list of those, and that's what you're running into. But as for brand new or newer games, are there ads on those? And I mean IN the game and not just at the beginning... I haven't downloaded a demo lately because of my humongous backlog of unplayed games.

I did an experiment. Instead of signing in with funpass which doesn't have ads, I signed into the trial. It gave me an ad at the beginning and between levels. They were about 12 or 15 seconds each. This was an old game and one of those "forever" trials (or so it said), not the 60 minute limits of the new games.

Yes, so that's one of the "free with ads" games. Thanks for the input, yusef! So I'm guessing that the Newer 60-min trials are without ads. So really, nothing much has changed, except people are noticing the free games w/ ads more, because there's more of them. And good for those who don't wanna pay for games! So in all honesty, I would say that nothing much has changed ad-wise, exept for the free games, which is a plus in many people's views. I have a few of those meself! If I really loved the game so much I'd purchase it to get rid of the ads, but hey, there's so many games out there now I take what I can get for free. Tho sure, I still purchase those I want unhindered. Is it really that different elsewhere? (or perhaps they don't offer "free with ads" games...), but thanks for bringing this up, hermette!

I've just been playing Tales from Dragon Mountain with FunPass, and when you finish a chapter while the next chapter is loading you get a big (fills the screen entirely) GameHouse promotional splashscreen! This is on EVERY LEVEL, honestly, it totally ruins the 'flow' of the game, at least for me anyway - I choose to NEVER play the free games with ads because I dislike that so much, and I'm pretty cross to have this in a game played with FunPass

In fact I will be DELETING this game and making a complaint.

Before gamehouse merged with real arcade, they had what was known as extended play games.
You could play these games as long as you wanted.
Now game have ads, that are called free game.
I have never seen Puxxle Solitarie listed as a free game and I have been coming here since 2003.
They have the solitarie games that we wanted to play. they were also one of the few sites that had games for Windows xp.
It is very annoying for the game manage to have an ad in the manager itself. It come up and keeps playing untli you click it off.
AS I said some games are selected for the ads and some are not.
It would be nice to have al list of the game that do whether they are old or new.
Inow of two other sites that also have more free games than are found here.

Trying not to go off the topic here, but ever since the integration of Facebook and rewards built into the site, I can't help but notice the increase of these things too! Perhaps Gamehouse is not taking its customer feedback very seriously and has decided on a whole new approach on how to attract all kinds of audiences.

I downloaded two trial games this evening, and they all had advertisments in them. Some ads would not come up and would just display a white square / rectangle for 30 seconds.

It turns out Kaspersky and a few other antivirus programs with privacy protection built into them is doing the right thing and protecting its users from exploits and other flaws associated with advertising and the servers they are on.
