When I'm reading some posts I think about how strange some of what we say would sound to ppl who don't know what we're doing. For example, here's a line I just posted to someone:

go fast and hit the bird cage

Do you have or come across any funny ones?

Granny, to answer your question from another thread about "go fast and hit the bird cage." That's the idea of the thread. That was advice I give to someone who was having trouble passing a level in a game. In the context of the game, it makes sense. But out of context -- in other words, to someone who doesn't know we're talking about that game -- it doesn't make any sense and actually sounds kind of weird.

I posted this reply in the original thread, but since it was hijacked, I thought I would bring it over here.

I recently posted the following:

Not being a fan of HO's, I fail to get excited when a new HO arrives.

OK. Here's another one that made perfect sense when I was posting it to the person looking for help on a level. Out of context, it sounds kind of weird.

"Did you find both the mouse and the recipe?"

That's funny. I once posted: "Go into the basement and look for the monkey wearing the green socks.'

This is a perfect example of what I was talking about in another thread. Over at chicken@#&*, this thing would have 8 pages by now instead of 8 responses.

Here's a good one I saw in a request for help: "I'm in his mind."

(Sadly, I didn't know the game and could not help.)

something that's nice in an understated way can be referred as being " as cool as the other side of the pillow"
