my Goddaughter has her babys' name on her foot. Looks like that would hurt. Ydoi, you don't have a bad bone in your body and never could.

I have a question for all that have tats. How old to too old to get one? Or are you ever too old to get one. I have wanted one for forever. Current (and last hubby) has no objections and wants one too, the problem has been mainly A. Am I too old for a tat and B. What to get.

My 19 yr old son got one about a year ago honoring oldest brother we lost almost 4 years ago and I had no problem with it. It is a lovely tribute. The second one is a skateboarder logo

WTH was that about? Anyway, just wondering. Thanks for the thread.

Hi 1goodmom,

I don't think that one can be too old for a tattoo, though it might get difficult to find a smooth surface No, back to being serious, I really think, that one might get too old in a mental way but never physically. I was 32 when I got mine.

Best whishes

I goodmom. You're never too old to get a tattoo. As for your sons skateboard logo... if he is an avid skateborder , perhaps he sees it as sort of a homage to a sport he loves. There is a zen to skateboarding, a sense of achievement. Then again maybe he just thinks the logo is cool or he's good enough to be looking for a corporate sponsor.

1 goodmom, you are never too old for a tat, true story here, on the news a 94 yr old man said he wanted a navy emblem before he died. He never got one in the navy for one reason or another so he got his first tat at 94. If your skin has a lot of elastisty any age is fine. I have worked with patients that if you blow on them they bleed and their skin is like parchment paper. So no, in that case. I got my first one at 44. Also, I'm sorry about your older son. The younger one has the right idea, all of my tats are for my daughter. One thing to remember for first timers, always make them open the needles in front of you as to be sure they are sterile. If they can't do that. Leave!

Thanks all.

Elven, yeah, I can find a spot or two that can handle it. LOL I got your post, we're good.

jj, yeah, maybe he thinks he's that good but I am thinking that he just likes the logo as he buys anything with that logo. I wish 'cuz I could use some help with college.

candylv, thanks for heads up on the needles. He has a nice tribute tat to older brother and it is really heartbreaking. I cry every time I see it. His death was sudden and unexpected.

Maybe the tat I am looking to get would be "No parent should bury their child". I don't know, just a thought.

Anyway, I am glad to know you guys and maybe with your guidance I can make the move and get it before they have to tattoo me after I am well.......you know

Big love and hugs from your

I have two a frog prince on my left ankle and a wizard on my right ankle, I absolutely love them and looking forward to two more a bumblebee with my youngest's name (That's her nickname) and a ldaybug with my oldest's name (she's been ladybug since she was born). I got my first one after my 55 year old mom got her first one after she passed the bar, and wanted the scale's of justice on her back. I don't ever regret my tat's and can't wait to get my other two..

Hi Flame welcome to the lounge. I had a friend who had folded angel wings tattooed from her over her shoulders down her back. It looked liked if she shrugged they would unfold and open up.

I have a birthday coming up and I swear that I am going to do it. I have had great advise here and if it is nothing more than my kids initials inside of a heart, or a great line from LOTR you know, one ring and all or maybe a design that moves me, it is getting done while I still have some "smooth places" left. You guys inspire me and I have never met a nicer bunch of people.

Elven, any suggestions? Well, off to bed I am but wanted to thank all of you for your insight and good wished.

Hi 1goodmom, well, having "smooth places" you've got half the rent already ... Some good line from LOTR would be great indeed and I would probably get yellow with envy, because I had not thought of that myself. There are some nice lines in the movies or the books, like "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

On the other hand you can take the first letter of your favourite single malt whisky brand as I did .

You are never to old for anything. I will be 70 my next birthday & just got my nose pierced. Got a great compliment from a young man I met at the grocery. I have one tat on my shoulder of a yellow rose. Badly needs recoloring.

Jharr, good for you! You're an inspiration to 1goodmom, who really wants to do something new. By the way, welcome. Sorry guys I have'nt answered my own thread but I've had a hectic week here. 1goodmom, I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I'm in the same boat. My week is terrible because on April 11th is the 7th anniversary of our daughters' death and hubby and I are not good in this week or this whole month really. So I share your pain. I think if you got a tattoo honoring your son somehow, you will never regret it. Never. No parent should have to bury their child makes a big impact. If you need to talk I'm here for you.

I have made the decision and it will be BOTH! and then some. I need the "One Ring" thing but it will be later. So. I thank all of you with your input and love. So, when I get them done, and it will be soon (will not wait until birthday)how do I show them to you? And again, where should I have them done. Shoulders I am thinking.

The "One Ring" will go across my lower back.

Again, thank you.

Candy, you have my heart.

Thank you, 1goodmom, and you definatly have mine as well. You won't regret anything you have put on for your son and people will ask you about it, then you get to talk about him all the time and keep his memory alive in others. People ask about mine all the time then I get an opportunity to talk a blue streak about Candace and I'm sure she's liking that just fine! My name here was her nickname, candylv, since she was an infant.

Not against the rules, per se...just please keep it "family friendly."

The nose piercing. It hurts more then getting your ears piersced, but I think its worth it. My husband is supportive , so was my son. My daughter in law held my hand & her x husband did the job.
GoodMom I hurt for your lose. It is a year this month that my Mother died,
we laid her to rest besides my Dad & my youngest sister. She was twenty one when she died for no apparent reason ( my sister that is). Thanks to all of yoiu for being so wellcoming.

It will be absolutely "family friendly". Thank you Mr. Bill for the reminder and thank you Elven for the support.

I want to take this moment to thank all of you for your love and support and suggestions. I am going to get my daughter to draw the heart with the initials and I know the next one will be the "No Parent" and the One ring quote, jeez, Elven you got me thinking. Adding a kiss here 'cuz I loved you advise.

Well, as it is 3:13 am and Dad is calling "Are you coming to bed or what" I would rather it be or what but I have to go to work in the AM so I am sending all of you on this particular thread an good night and a hug and kiss from me.

Listjohn, as for me I can tell you nothing happens to them, I use to be a quite heavy person before 2003, after my child died in that yr since then I have lost 102 lbs and still losing, {i'm about 138} and the tatoos, all 6 of them look great. They don't look smaller or stretched or anything. Hope that answered your question.

Kudos to you candy! and to you goodmom for making this step. And Hello to all the new 'kid's' in the house...LOL.
I don't have a fancy tat like many of you do, but I do have a few tiny ones that I'm proud of. They are just small crosses made by the doc when I had radiation therapy. (located on my breast) To tell you the truth I don't even remember how it felt when they put them on.
