I like HOGs and large file adventure games. Anyone playing anything good? Also IHOGS and FROGS. I bought a new computer that has a 64 bit system (don't know what that means, other than there were a lot of the older games I could not play) When I put my old one in the shop for general dusting and cleaning I had XP installed on it so now I am happily playing The Black Mirror, the Myst series and others. But is there any new ones that are good?

Hello 'llstjohn' - Thank you for posting your question and your comments about your new 64-bit computer. Congratulations on your purchase! I'm looking to do the same for my home...I just need to convince myself of the need.

We realize that some of the older games might not be compatible with a 64-bit Operating System but some of them might work if you run a 32-bit compatibility mode. Is your new computer running Windows 7 64-bit? Although I'm glad to know that you're able to enjoy The Black Mirror and the Myst series (one of our favorites!) on your old computer, now that it has Windows XP, I'd like to follow up with our Technical Team to see if there is a way you can play some of your older games on your new computer as well. You can reply to me here or write to ForumAdmins@gamehouse.com.

Thanks again for playing at GameHouse!

Cheers,
Bill

Hello, Bill. I am using the XP exclusively. I put the 64 bit back in the box it came in so I will have a backup if something happens to this one. I had Vista on this one before the change to XP and did not care for it much. One of the reasons I had XP put on was because I could not get Black Mirror to work in Vista and it looked like a game I would play. And games I have with another site were not compatible with 64 bit. (What does 64 bit mean, any way?) Since the Myst games are so old now, is there a chance that you could get them? Some other good older games are Sentinel, Descendents in Time and Mysterious Journey2. And Aura, Fate of the Ages. If you like LF adventures, these are good ones.

What site is that game on, lyhnne? I just typed 'Brunhilda' in the Gh search box and it asked me if I meant 'tranquility'. I'll go look for a gypsy's tale. Might yield some interesting resuts.

codeminion is the maker so is on their site. i paid 10 dollars for it and it was well worth the extra 3 bucks. gypsy's tale is at the fish bowl and amaranth games.

Thanks, lynne. I'll go look for them. Just from the title, gypsy's tale sounds interesting.

Many thanks, 'llstjohn,' for your reply. This is great feedback! I do not expect that we will be able to offer the Myst games or the others you've mentioned, as the genre is not something we offer, but I'll follow up with our Content team to learn more. I'll keep you posted here as I have information to share.

Meanwhile I really appreciate your question about '64-bit' and I'll take a stab at it. When one talks about "bits" with regard to computers, it is basically describing the computer's ability to count and calculate data; it's a way to quantify a computer processor's power. A 64-bit processor has the ability to handle many times more simultaneous calculations than a 32-bit processor. For the gaming world that translates into a huge increase in the number of simultaneous animations and total number of colors that can be processed. Thus a 64-bit processor has the ability to deliver much more detailed and vivid graphics...to cite just one example.

I hope that helps...of course there is much more detailed information about '64-bit' available on the Internet.

Thanks again!
Bill

Thanks for the info, Bill. I was thinking that bits had something to do with the memory, or space to keep things you have. Someone in another forum was talking about bits and having to adjust their screen resolution and I was thinking 'What can one possibly have to do with the other.' But since bits deals with issues like color and such, I guess it would, huh? Now I'm off to read all about bits, bytes and some other stuff that I really don't want to know about but probably should. You've shamed me into educating myself, Bill.

Sounds like you are enjoying your new pooter, I'd like to get a new one soon but need to convince the budget book, LOL. Hope to see you back more often. Have fun playing all those games. (I like them too)

Thanks Mr. Bill for the help.

I tried Brunhilda. Too much talking . And I had a hard time figuring out the site. Complicated download-go check email to confirm joining, d/l this and d/l that. (One had something to do with rebates--don't really remember) Didn't care a lot for the game. D/ling Gypsy now.

Good heavens, Lynne! You have a taste for complicated games, don't you? I spent more time in Gypsy wandering around not knowing what to do than I did in Syberia or Exile. Good game, tho. I think that one is a keeper!

Yikes! The last thing I intended to do was engender a sense of shame and I apologize if that's how my reply came across. Trust me - I'm in the same boat about educating myself on the subject as there is so much to learn.

Cheers,

Bill

I was joking, Bill. I must say I am impressed with your customer service. I had a problem with a couple of my games and told them about it on Friday and they responded on Saturday with a solution that fixed the problem. Impressive!! On Saturday!!!!!

I have a credit coming over there tomorrow and I think I am going to go for the Hidden Mysteries Vampire Secrets. I got to a fascinating mini game when my time ran out. But I will look at elixir of immortality first.
The first thing I am going to do, tho, is finish Exile, the third in the Myst series. I am finally in the last chapter. Love those games!!
Durn your hide, Lynne!! Went and tried elixir and like it. Now don't know what to do about Vampire Secrets.

I enjoyed Brunhilda's first chapter so much that I purchased it. Big msitake! I'm stuck in the first chapter - everyone else is having problems in the 9th! I go into Rathold and approach the Nexus Stone. A rat is supposed to hit on me for cheese, but no one comes. Any hints, cheats, suggestions? I logged off my character name and started again and got past the point where I was stuck. It seems to be a glich in the game? Anyone else run into this problem? I hope that it doesn't happen again. Thanks for participating in this forum. It is a well made and good HOG and I would like to finish it. A good buy and fun was: The Insider Tales - it's a three program game and worth the $6.99 fee for members with a Fun Ticket.
