'Internet Explorer Script Error'

I have downloaded three games over the last week and none of them will play, when the sign-in box comes up an error dialogue box pops up that says 'Internet Explorer Script Error'; it asks me if I want to continue anyway but even if I click 'Yes' the game doesn't launch, the sign-in box just goes white and doesn't do anything else, or else it appears to launch but then jumps straight to 'Trial Expired' (although I signed in with my Funpass).

I don't even use IE, I use Firefox. What's going on?

Hi SilverSuki,

Sorry for the trouble and I'll be glad to help you. This issue occurs whenever the firewall blocks the game play, you can try configuring the firewall and if that doesn't work, clearing the cookies off your Internet Explorer helps! Check the link:

Resetting the web browser

Let us know how it works.

Thank you for playing at GameHouse!

Hi Suki,

To clarify the point about IE...even though you use Firefox as your Web browser, the program that launches your game and displays the window where you sign in with your FunPass credentials is dependent upon Internet Explorer, which is part of every Windows operating system installation (and, of course, which is the default browser for Windows). Therefore the suggestions that my collague BarryW offered may, indeed, help.

We're interested to learn how it works for you.

Thanks for posting!

Ah thanks for explaining that, I wonder if changing the IE settings between downloading a game and launching it could be the problem? A few days AFTER downloading the games, I had a problem with IE, it wouldn't connect to the internet for some unknown reason so I restored it to its default settings. It now works fine but the downloaded games wouldn't launch after that. Not much point 'resetting' IE as that's what I've just done anyway, so I'll try uninstalling the games and redownloading them, and see if that fixes the issue.

Just to update, that seems to have partially 'fixed' the issue, the games will now play, but I'm still getting the same error message. Now when I click to continue running the page anyway, the game does actually launch, although only after a very long delay where the launch window is a blank white screen. So I'm not sure what's going on there but there's clearly still some kind of issue. I get this on both my laptop and my pc, and my mother has recently started to get the same thing on her pc when she tries to launch games, so it isn't limited to settings on my computer/browser.

Even though you do not use Internet Explorer, Gamehouse renders their HTML and game asset artwork in Internet Explorer so if you have an older version of Internet Explorer on your machine, this may be causing an issue. On Vista and Windows 7, it might be a good idea to downgrade to IE8 until Microsoft can fix many compatibility bugs 9 presents.

Ah thanks Wolvie! We both have IE7, and I've had compatibility issues with it with other things (which is one of the reasons I changed to using Firefox), so I'll try going up to 8

I'm not Suki, and I (knock on wood) haven't had any game problems. But this is good information to know, x2wolverine. Thank you.
