...would you drop in and tell me if you are doing anything to address the many many requests for a PM feature on this site. Also, several people have mentioned the fact that posting in an active thread does not move the thread to the top of page one and we think it should.

Hi there, 'llstjohn' ...

Your timing is excellent! We were talking about "wish list" items for the forums just yesterday, and I am putting together a list of the suggestions we have seen in these pages to forward to our development team.

The suggestion to show active forums at the top of the list is one that many of our members have offered and we agree completely. That is what one expects in a forum.

Thank you for reminding me about the Private Message feature. Any more suggestions?

Cheers!
Bill

Bill, this is so exciting!
If you are up for more suggestions-really-I believe you will find we would like to look at something other than a dark cutout above our names. I have read some entries about avatars or uploaded pix.
Thanks for the help...

Hello 'Room333' -- thanks for your reply.

We are happy to review and give consideration to any suggestion to help these forums provide the best possible community experience for our members.

Seems the most frequently voiced suggestion for improvement is making sure that active threads remain "on top" as well as providing other sort features (for example: by date, newest posts, "my posts").

Beyond that we also have noted:

*Increase the character limit beyond 1,000 characters per post and/or provide a counter to help everyone keep track of the size of their posts.

*Private messaging capability.

*Custom avatars and ability to upload photos for those images.

*Toolbar "How To" tips to help people new to posting navigate their way through the forums and make the most of their posts.

I can't promise when any of these improvements will be available, as they must first be reviewed and prioritized among all of our development projects, but we are serious about improving the experience here. Patience will be key -- and this goes for us too! We share this "wish list" and we have a few of our own suggestions to help us more effectively administer and moderate the forums.

We very much appreciate the feedback...please keep the suggestions coming.

Best regards,

Bill

Yes actually there is something Id like- the ability to search posts by a specific poster (that ought to come up when you click the poster's name), and the ability to search for or sort by threads that you participated in.
I dont have time to log in every day so its a pain to recall which thread I commented in to see if anyone replied, or to find them even if I remember.

Also... can we get the time off of military time (24-hour) and back to AM and PM? It's confusing enough with all the time zones here. And ditto on the other suggestions. Plus, while we're at it (lol), the ability to change fonts and nicer smiley faces. This is terrific that you guys truly wanna hear what we think. Thanks, Bill!!

I agree with summer on that one. It's hard to remember which one I posted to so have to go through all of them . I don't want anyone to think I did'nt bother replying, sometimes I just can't find it.

Thanks, everyone, for your continued interest in making these forums a great experience for all of our members.

Just saw a comment in another thread that refers to this topic: "Bill lists some of the new features we will be getting soon. should be nice."

I appreciate the positive feedback! And we are definitely interested in making improvements to the forums but I don't yet have a time line for implementation of any of them. I realize that "soon" will be interpreted differently among everyone, and I hope it is soon according to all interpretations.

We're gathering our list of enhancements that will be forwarded to our development team, who must then prioritize them among every other project.

Our first priority is always to ensure that you have the best games at GameHouse and that your experience in playing them is first rate (including downloading and installing -- yes, we have read many comments about this subject!). We also want to ensure that your experience in managing your membership (account details, billing, your profile, etc.) is effortless. Beyond that we want to provide a rich community experience.

Your support means a lot to us. Thank you for being here and for playing at GameHouse.

Bill

Yeah, Bill. It's kind of like when I read in November that the new Mortimer Beckett game was coming out "soon".

This thread has reminded me of one important thing- having a 'post reply' button at the bottom of the thread instead of having to scroll back to the top!

Regarding knowing which threds you've posted on - some forums have the option to receive an email when someone replies to your post or to a thread you've contributed to but I've no idea if this is feasible for you. I would imagine it requires a lot more investment than simply having the facility to list threads when you log in.

Either would be a vast improvement but getting the emails would lead to more participation as it reminds people to visit the site.

More good points, Grump... I think the "Quote this Post" takes the place of a "Post reply," if it's that particular post you want to speak to. But I agree... a "Reply" button (as in reply to the thread as a whole) would be handy at the bottom of the thread.

I think one of the biggest helps in keep track of posts (and thank gosh bill said it's their #1 priority) is to have a thread come to the top if any additional posts are made on it. Keeping all the "recent" ones on top would let you see if yours was replied to.
