Games Manager (Beta)

This handy feature will help you find and organize all of your games easier and faster than ever. Here’s a quick overview of the Games Manager benefits for those customers who already have it installed (the Games Manager is not currently being offered for new download):

· Play, buy, and uninstall games - directly from Games Manager.
· View your games at a glance: both purchased and trial, from GameHouse and RealArcade.*
· See how much time remains on trial games.**
· Sort games by title, genre, version (full/trial), and site (RealArcade/GameHouse).
· Spread the word about games you like with FaceBook, Twitter and MySpace.

Note to former RealArcade members: You’ll recognize a lot of this functionality from the MyGames feature that was on the RealArcade site. We think you’ll find it really useful!

Once you’ve tried it, come back here and let us know what you think.

Additional notes about Games Manager:

· Requires a PC with Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000 and Internet Explorer. (It does not currently run on Macs or support Mac games.)

· *Will not currently display any games purchased on GameHouse.com prior to November 19, 2008. To play those games, double-click on the game icon on your desktop.

· **Will not display remaining trial time for many GameHouse download games. Instead, you can click the “Play” button in Games Manager to open the Games Launcher and view the remaining trial time.

me either. It only picked up three initially upon installation and then said that there was an installation failure when I tried to open it directly from my desktop. I had to uninstall.

Only shows 4 games for me that I have not even played in forever. I have played at least 7 in the last month but none are shown. The only feature I care about is something to keep me having to login everytime I want to play a game.

Darkspell, you can always put a shortcuts on your desktop to do that also. Makes things a whole lot easier. If you don't know how, give a holler.

I've been asking for this feature ever since the transition from RealArcade and am happy to see it here. However, I need to know how to add games. Do I need to re-re-re-download all my games? Can I tell it to go search for more games that are installed on my system. Why doesn't it look through the Gamehouse window and list all the purchased games?

Good going to create the manager, but I think it needs more work.

Tried to download the manager and when it got to choose file it stopped and I had to close and cancel install and then i still couldn't take the survey. I an a transferee from RA, I bought this computer in 7/08, my OP is Vista Home Basic and I had Tech support when I re -installed my games, I also printed every step and link for every game they worked until approx 12/09. When I played one and it closed after 60 min stating trial period expired.

So I tried all of the games with the same result, with the exception of one. Now I can't open, I get the message trial period expired. When I go to GH my games, I see all of my games, it shows purchase but when I tried to redownload I can't get past choose folder so then I have to close and cancel installation. HELP PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee.

I think this is a terrific idea, Bill... looks nice and is a great addition to GH. But in my case, I simply won't be using it, as most of my games didn't transfer over from RA, and I'm playing them out of folder shortcuts. But for those just staring a collection, hopefully it'll work well (tho I can see some are having problems with the beta).

It won't install for me. I downloaded: GamesManager-Installer.exe
Clicked to install.

then Error popup box in XP Pro:
(X) "windows cannot find 'bin\bstrapInstall.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."
And then, when I tried to play a game I just bought and unlocked (Mishap). The game would not start...

(i) "Failed to open "main.cs"
and then
(i) "Failed to initialize game, shutting down."
Reinstalling the game gets it playing correctly.
I've already tried installing twice. Get the same results (the manager will not install, then the game will not play), and reinstalled the game each time in order to run the game from its shortcut.

Not inclined to do more mobius loops for the Beta manager, but I'm glad it's in the works.

The manager downloaded with no problem and brought up all of my Realarcade games. But would not bring up the Game house games that were on my desktop. When I reinstalled the games, it showed duplicates of all of the games that I had reinstalled. When I tried to run one game It tried to run both Instances of the game & locked up the computer. When I tried to uninstall one instance of the game it removed both.

I removed game manager from the computer & run the games through the windows program manager, which shows everything.

I'll wait until it is finished getting the bugs out & maybe try again.

I'd like to be able to install games on my D: drive instead of defaulting to C drive. Does the new Games Manager do that?

Well, given that many of you don't have their games showing, I guess I'm lucky... Of the 2 games I downloaded (I just joined today) one shows twice lol. Also, I would like it better if the game manager let me choose the installation folder.

Hi Spidercat,
Wow....I love ur screen name spidercat....oh you asked a answer for a query right....Here it is... You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the manager once, it will work. Yep it would be better if it gives us an option to choose folder, unfortunately it doesn't gives us that option. Anyway i love game manager, it helps us in sorting, uninstalling etc.,

I have downloaded Games Manager and of those listed two (Luxor and Little Shop-City Lights) show the need to buy but my account shows already purchased. Additionally, no RealArcade games were listed.

Evening. I just downloaded the beta version of the game manager and it only shows part of the games I have, bought, free and demo and the ones I know are on my computer from previous downloads from real arcade and other sites I've played for years. Also most I have purchased are now in demo mode with the buy button. And to top it off the free game from yesterday Abundante is now a demo 60 minute game. I'd like to know specially about the free game. Then the ones I've already purchased because now none are working and I don't feel I want to repurchase them. Any fixes for this.

I downloaded Games Manager, but not all of my games were listed, so I uninstalled those games, re-started my computer, and re-installed those games. They are now listed on my Games Manager. Because I don't like a bunch of "junk" on my Desktop screen, I clicked to "pin to my Startup Menu", then deleted the shortcut icon from my Desktop ... and now, of course, when I go to my Startup Menu and click on the Games Manager there, I get a "missing shorcut" error message. I want to be able to access the Games Manager from my Startup Menu without being forced to have the "shortcut" icon on my Desktop. I am going to delete the Games Manager until this "problem" has been corrected. I am unable to go to "All Programs" and find a "Gamehouse" folder, neither inside my "Games" file, nor listed as it's own separate folder anywhere on my list of programs -- I suppose because I have all my games downloaded on my external hard drive -- so, the Games Manager would be nice to have, but not if I am forced to keep the "shortcut icon" on my Desktop. And, yes ... this means that I have deleted the "shortcut icons" for my games, as well.

Hi everyone,

We understand the challenges you are experiencing with the Game Manager. Right now Game Manager is still in a testing mode (Beta version) and our developers are trying to narrow down the issues. Hopefully, we will sort out all the issues once the final product is launched.

If the games do not appear in the Game Manager, please play the games from the start menu or by clicking on the Game icon from your desktop.

If you get any trouble in playing the games then please send us an email to help@gamehouse.com along with the following details:

1. Name of the game and the firewall and/or security software used (Norton, McAfee etc.).
2. Direct X Information. (To find out the DirectX details copy and paste the following link in the address bar in your web browser, http://www.gamehouse.com/forums/support-forum/DirectX-Diagnostic-Tool---Helpful-When-Contacting-Support-id1693 )

Thank you for playing at GameHouse!!

Best regards,
Jason

Ok I understand there are issues with the Beta Version of the game manger. I uninstalled it and will wait for the issue to be resolved. But my question still goes unanswered. I really liked the free game Abundante that was offered and was playing right along when I installed the game manager. After install it wouldn't let me play as a free game but as a demo only. I would like to know if there is a link for a redownload of this game or am I out of luck playing it as a free game?

I downloaded the installer but it just flashes up a DOS window and nothing else happens. What is it supposed to do?

Hi RLWAGGS, -- thanks for your post.

The issue you are facing may be due to the bad cookies getting stored in your computer. Resetting your browser settings and also trying to download the game with a different browser like Google Chrome/Mozilla Firefox helps. To perform the same, follow the link:

http://support.gamehouse.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/945

If you continue to have a problem, send an email to help@gamehouse.com with the following details:

1. Email address associated with your GameHouse account.
2. Name of the firewall and/or security software used (Norton, McAfee etc.).

Thank you for your patience and support!

Best regards,
Arvin
