Download offers: Follow-up

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the feedback you have given us about the download offers made possible through our partnership with OpenCandy. Your feedback is very important to us and we listened.

We're re-evaluating this program to see how we can provide our customers the opportunity to take advantage of special offers that they may find of interest.

In the mean time we have discontinued these offers during game download and installation.

On behalf of the entire GameHouse Team I thank you for your business and your support. We're very glad to have you playing at GameHouse and participating in the GameHouse Community!

Best regards,

Bill

Thank you very much! I know it didn't seem like a big deal to just un-check a box, but in reality it made a solid and honest company look a bit sleazy.

I don't mind them that much, but I think it is a waste for gamehouse to put them in. Not many people are going to install those offers anyway and it just irritates paying customers.

I second that! If GH wants to offer, why not offer once and if a costumer declines it, than stop offering it to that costumer. As I remember you already did that with google chrome?!

They did? I got asked about that all the time. How about a gamehouse free section? Gamehouse could offer a free section and part of that offer would require you to install those offers. That way Gamehouse is making money and at the same time keeping people happy. And they could even put those commercials in it. Technically gamehouse has games like that now, but not that many. Every week or month they could offer a new game in their free section.

Just watch the offers you install on people's computers and give people the ability to remove it add/remove. If the people behind those bundled programs really wanted to make money they would give a full functional trial instead of a crippled one.

Edit: Or what they could do is give people a full version with limitations that you can't install it again. That you have to install it on the day of the giveaway. Think about it gamehouse could put that offer in the game giveaway of the day. I stole that idea, but if gamehouse would implement that in the game giveaway of the day you would see a lot of people. Not all people play games on their computer, but many people would sign up for another program.

Hm, seems like the offers are back, and that's just terrible. Gamehouse, you make me sad.

Hi everyone...

As I mentioned in my original post under this topic GameHouse re-evaluated this program and we have reintroduced some special offers from Google and OpenCandy that may be of interest.

There is new logic in place, however, that is expected to reduce by 66% the frequency with which these offers will be presented during game downloads. In the next week or so you may also see some special offers from Kidstarter; I'll post more about that when I know it is live.

We encourage your feedback - thank you.

Bill

Hmm, well, here's my feedback...

What a retrograde step after all that everyone has said.

The one thing that I do not want is offers for something in my downloads. I hate it when this stuff gets on my computer. I have to delete everything. I really hope that you will reconsider this action.
