I also have problems with downloading using IE8 while running Vista 32b
funnily enough FireFox 3.5 works just fine.. the only bother in that browser is that you have to activate the installer yourself

So far I'm not unhappy with the change from RA to Gamehouse but more info before would have been better I think

EVERYONE!

There is no more REALARCADE!

GAMEHOUSE is now in charge and you will have to purchase their games that you got for next to nothing.

The good news is that you can still play the old games after an hour or so on the chat line to work through the problem.

The bad news is that you will have to put up with ads that stop the game every 3 - 4 minutes.

I've been through this today and had to escalate the problem to 'roger' who seems to know what is going on.

Good luck with playing your games again as you know them.

Find the location that you saved GameHouse Launcher to, or do a search for it. Right-mouse-click over the place that it downloaded to. Select "Properties" from the pull-down menu. Click where it says "Unblock". Then press apply. Under the tab that says "Security" click on the button that says "edit" Click on All user names (one at a time). Make sure to click the box that says "Full Authorization" under each name. Then press "Apply" Under the "Compatability" tab, be sure to check the box that says "Run Program as administrator" box. Then hit "Apply". Press OKAY to close the Property Menu box. Then, right-mouse-click over the download, again. This time, select "Run game as administrator". You "Should" do these steps for EVERYTHING you download. Hope this helps. Chrystinah5.

Barb1948 I'm having trouble installing from either site but I seem to have a unique problem. I'm running a vista 64 bit. When I try to download a game, I get a box that comes up that instead of saying open, says find, save or cancel download. When I click on find, nothing happens. When I wrote to support, they asked for all the information I had already given them. What's up with that? Why can't they come up with some kind of an installation program? Also, what's with the two games for $9.99. How does that work. And how will I know when my credit is taken from my bank accout and when it will be useable? Email?

Hi There
I just wanted to say I agree with you, Since swapping to Gamehouse, I cannot download any games at all I get the same message (Sorry windows has blocked the game
downloader from accessing your computer. Make sure your windows user account has full privileges.) One of my games bejewelled twist after 4 months has turned back to the free play mode and now I cannot access any game from Gamehouse, there not listening to any of there realarcade customers I don't think they care and I told them so. I even tried downloading them from firefox browser and I got this security message that said secure connection failed www.gamehouse.com uses and invalid security, I just think you all should know that

yes I tired creating an alternate user account and that did not work either, I even reformatted my hard drive to see if that would make a difference and that was a waste of my time, but I'm not finished with them yet.

I have tried over and over again to do the trial hour on the game I run XP ultimate and basically have had no issues with real arcade before. I install the games after I log in and it tells me that I don't have a fun pass membership so I cant use this feature and my account is up to date with real arcade this really sucks and I am about to cancel the whole thing. the high light of my membership is the option to try the game before purchasing it. Never had game house and maybe they should have joined real arcade instead

I too am having the same installer problem after the Gamehouse takeover, but the problem is only on my XP Pro computer. My XP Media Center machine allows the installer to run just fine. I have administrator priveleges on both machines. Both machines are Genuine Advantage compliant and are updated faithfully every time Windows Update alerts me that there are updates available.

Gamehouse, you really need to spend a little more effort on solving this. Since I have one machine that works fine and one that doesn't, tell me what to go compare between the two machines and maybe we can figure this out.

Hello 'jaysquared' ...

Thanks for your post. I suggest that, if you have not already done so, please contact GameHouse Customer Support via email - support@gamehouse.com - so that your concerns can be logged and tracked into a system where Customer Support and the Technical Support teams collaborate to resolve such issues. When you contact Customer Support it's very helpful to offer them the system configuration details for each of your two computers.

Probably the easiest and quickest way to gather system information is by running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. If you are not familiar with it you can find detailed instructions for using it in this forum topic:

http://www.gamehouse.com/forums/support-forum/DirectX-Diagnostic-Tool---Helpful-When-Contacting-Support-id1693

Thanks again for taking time to post your comments. And most of all thank you for playing at GameHouse!

Best regards,
Bill

I have contacted support and here is what they told me to do on widows xp home edition and it worked! "I understand that you are unable to download the game, as you get “Windows blocked the game downloader” error. I can help you with this.
To resolve the issue, you need to rename the GameHouse entry in your System Registry as per the steps given below :

I don't have GameHouse 2.0 listed in my software folder. I only have RealNetworks and RealArcade listed. Could this be the problem?

I wish GameHouse would have the same software Real Arcade did for downloading games. Downloading from the web site just never worked for me. Even when Real Arcade did the same thing. On my Vista Laptop it works but my XP desktop it does not. I have two accounts on the desktop and some games will load in one and not the other and vise vera. I always have to re-download games no matter what with Real Arcade.

On firefox, I don't get the "can't download sorry" message. But I do in IE. hmmmm...... I only get "Preparing to Install Game..." message. Then nothing happens.

The only way I can play a game is to use Real Arcade program that I still have installed. The game have to be on the list or else I can't play it. example Jessica's Cup Cakes is not on the list and I bought it and can't play it. Since day one of merger, couldn't install GameHouse anything.

Hmmm....... puzzling.... still trying all the suggestions listed. Still nothing. I just tried the "UnBlock" suggestion...... Nope that didn't work either.....

Check out mrtnkaboom's post. I knew it wasn't a browser issue because windows was blocking the download. I can't believe that Gamehouse supprt personnel haven't figured out the problem, this is truely troubling to me. Why would you come here if their people can't help you? I tried for a month to get my game to install, finally I googled the message that windows displayed and of all the places the solution was on Gamehouse's site in the user forum. I run XP & IE8 and the problem is in the root key of the installer, something I feel Gamehouse support should know by now. I followed mrtnkaboom's instructions and my game downloaded immediately. I see some posts that this doesn't work but it did for me, it realy isn't that hard to do. Good luck. P.S. With all these issues with people buying games that don't work maybe they should re-name the site GameHose. Can I get a show of hands? Anybody? sox12st

My problem is slightly different. I bought a new computer with Win7 (old one was XP) I used a file transfer program to move from the one computer to the other. I ended up having to redownload most of my games anyway. I have no trouble downloading, but, with 1 or 2 exceptions, any games I bought from GH after the takeover and before buying the new computer, simply will not run. I have tried everything imaginable. No matter what I do, those games will not run and they were purchased from GH not RA. I get no error message, just nothing happens. Customer support is useless. They try to tell me the same thing they are telling all of you--that I need admin privileges and to try opening a new user account. That doesn't work either. I am the only owner and user of this brand new computer and I live alone, so...

Just to summarize if I bought the game AFTER Gamehouse took over RealArcade, but BEFORE I bought my new computer, the games will not play. I have no problem with new games that I buy.

I just wasted over 2 hours of my precious time on the phone with tech support because of this very issue. Windows XP sp3. Firefox or IE8, both will download, but nothing happens after the download. Tech support's answer? Uninstall every single thing related to RealArcade on my computer. Of course, I then lost the 37 full versions I had installed. I wonder, will Gamehouse be sending me a check for $370.00? I thought not. I am extremely annoyed. This is a hack job of a transfer over from RealArcade to GameHouse.

With all these complaints, there should be a fix in place, and it should have been emailed to every RealArcade client. Never had one problem in the 5+ years of my subscription to RealArcade. GameHouse, you are NOT impressing me or anyone I know. Wonder how many RealArcade clients you've lost because of this poor service? A level 2 Tech is supposed to call me tomorrow. We'll see if that happens, and we'll see if he can magically make GameHouse games download to this computer. I won't be holding my breath.

Thank you again.

Mr. Beal,

I did receive your personal email, as you stated you would, today - Tuesday. I appreciate your promptness and the fact that you kept your word. However; you are under the misguided assumption that the work around is a resolution, and it is far from that.

The tech did indeed call me back on Sunday. The tech was kind and gracious, but after another huge chunk of time, even he was unable to make GameHouse work on my computer. The "resolution" was to download the games to a different computer in my house. That computer happens to be a laptop and a work computer. So, it really is not ideal.

The fact remains, that GameHouse will not work on my home PC, even though, for over 5 years, RealArcade worked without one problem. Yes, tech support did try, very hard in fact, to resolve this issue. And I did get an email from you, Mr. Beal. However, the issue was not resolved, the problem was not fixed, and I will be terminating my relationship with Gamehouse at the end of September.

GameHouse, you did try to please me by giving me 3 free credits...and not charging me for the month, which in the big corporate world may seem like a nice bone to toss to an upset client.
see next post...

It does nothing to resolve the issue, nor does it compensate for the many months (10 to be exact) in which I could not use my RealArcade credits because the GameHouse games did not install on my PC, nor refund me for the 10 months of service fee I paid to access a service that I could not access, the downloading of one free game a month.

So, for you to email me and try to spin it as "problem resolved"...well, that's just not honest.
Thank you for your email. Thank you for the 3 free credits. Thank you for the one free month. But, no, the problem was not resolved to my satisfaction. My resolution will be to go elsewhere for my gaming needs.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM...AND WHEN I INQUIRED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE THE GAME HOUSE GAMES DO NOT WORK AT 64BIT, JUST 32. STRANGE, I HAD DOWNLOADED GAMES AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING,(I HOPE), BUT IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO DOWNLOAD GAMES AFTER A WHILE. LIKE SO MANY OF YOU, I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH REAL ARCADE.
IT'S A SHAME, I REALLY ENJOY THE GAMEHOUSE GAMES. THERE ARE SO MANY I WOULD LIKE TO TRY.
OH WELL, MAYBE THIS WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THEIR GAME PLAN.
BY THE WAY GAMEHOUSE, IS THERE A WAY TO CHANGE THE RESOLUTION TO 32BIT? WHEN I ASKED THAT BEFORE, I NEVER RECEIVED AN ANSWER. I HAVE JAVA 32BIT, BUT NOT SURE IF THAT IS COMPATABLE.

Posted on Fri Aug 13 20:19:15 PDT 2010

Hi starbeckker,

Thanks for posting your concern. I'm sorry for the experience you are facing while downloading the games from GameHouse. Meanwhile I really appreciate your question about '64-bit'. When one talks about "bit", it seems to be a technical jargon but in computer terminology 'bit' describe the computer's ability to count and calculate data; it's a way to quantify a computer processor's power. Of course there is much more detailed information about '64-bit' available on the Internet. Unfortunately there is no way to change the processor power from 64-bit to 32-bit.

To analyze this issue further, send an email to help@gamehouse.com along with the following details:

1] Email address associated with your GameHouse account.
2] Name of the firewall and/or security software used (Norton, McAfee etc.).
3] Error message if any, while trying to download games from GameHouse.

We appreciate your patience and support.

Best Regards,
Arvin
