OK - I cancelled my Game Pass or whatever it is called, and have asked that my credit card information be removed from the system. I'm told it can NEVER be removed. Isn't that illegal? How can I protect my information when it is allowed to remain in a system I am no longer using? The only option I was given was to remove the entire account, thereby making it so I can no longer download games I've already purchased, which is unacceptable.
Any thoughts out there? Is there a Federal agency I should call?
It sounds like you knew you would loose all your games when you did this.
I have been a gamepass member on and off for about 2 or 3 years and I signed up for many trials. I did not keep (or pay for it) for this they need your account information too and never payed a dime. They still had my account information, but they never charged it and they wouldn't have charged your account either and if a mistake happened all you would have to do is tell them about it.
You shouldn't have deleted your account knowing that you would loose access to your games and then complain about it after the fact. That is my personal opinion. Gamehouse would have never taken anything from your account and if a mistake happened you just could have got your money back.
It's just a matter of ID protection, not unauthorized charges. Some time back I had a series of unauthorize/fraudulant charges on a few of my credit cards. One of the things I relized all those cards had in common was that I had used all of them on a popular shopping website that stored payment methods. Any cards I hadn't used on that website never had any fraudulant charges. I went into that site and deleted all the payment methods. Now if I buy something there I delete the payment method as soon as I receive the merchandise and decide everything is okay and I don't need to return it. I haven't had any problems since. BK, try calling customer service at 1-866-831-5895 to see if your account can be restarted, that is if you want to.
ffwfire - I think you're missing the point. I did not delete my account, that was the option I was given, but I didn't take it. And yes, they did restart my membership twice without my authorization - each time I was assured it wouldn't happen again.
I'm not 'complaining' about anything. I just want my information safe. And it's not safe if I'm not allowed to remove it from their website. They have no reason to hold it, as I do not intend to buy their service ever again.
Gamehouse support is a joke - and I see they don't have the balls to answer my concern, nor did their manager 'call me back' as they stated they would. All I get to talk to are the guys in India that are following scripts. What's the point in this?
I don't think your information is safe anywhere if you used it before. I would just get another card. Some people don't won't get anything online, because they are afraid their information will wind up in the wrong people's hands so they don't use it online at all.
bkpowell, why don't you try and contact your credit card company and see if they can help you. Getting a new credit card may not be the answer. Even if you close the account, the act of getting new cards when there is a problem may actually harm your credit score. Talk to your credit card company first.
