As I was replaying the front yard levels, I waited until the last zombie - didn't kill him but planted walnuts in his path and proceeded to replace the rest of the yard with sunflowers. It took a little while but it was worth it!

I used the zombie aquarium mini game to collect the 8000, and it did take a little time, but all you had to do was keep collecting the suns until you reached it, and then click the trophy to signal you were finished.
