The problem as I see it is... there are way too many people who WILL pay whatever is charged, without blinking an eye. And...then, there are those that will groan about the price, but STILL pay it, and somewhat rationalize the purchase. They say "I know it cost alot, but I deserve it, I work hard and I really really really want it and got to have it, so it's ok that it's overpriced I will buy it anyway!"
If you want to try to change the standard?...DON"T BUY IT! (I won't purchase ANYTHING I know is overpriced, here and well, --everywhere)
However, to believe if we (those who don't like to be ripped-off) stick together and DON"T buy something that is blatantly overpriced, that overpricing will stop... unfortunately it's not that simple. If there are always those who will buy it anyway, prices will continue to escalate. Those who will purchase something at any cost are the problem, here at GH and in the consumer world, and... in every venue.
As consumers we keep bending over.

Ever since their official merger, I have become disgusted with Gamehouse and Real Arcade. I definetely won't be paying $19.99 for any game from any of the sites but especially from Gamehouse.

Wow, to think that I waited to cancel my membership until this new MB game came out-and now I find out that I will have to dish out $20 if I want it?
No thanks! I don't want the cheats and I have plenty of jigsaw puzzles already! Premium? Yeah, in the wallet!
Guess I'll just wait and buy the regular edition when it comes out, and maybe then I can justify the price-by saving on a membership with GH!

Hooray! What an excellent reason for keeping my FunPass membership active. I mean, besides the fact that it's the best deal going. For the price of 2-3 games per month on those other sites, I get unlimited access to every game here; and the majority of them do roll through sooner or later, with the exception of a very few can't-miss series. (for me)

govegirl wrote: I understand that developers need to make money to justify creating higher quality games and the price drop seems to be backfiring.

However, the price difference of 3 times as much is too great, especially for a club member. The empahasis on being a loyal member to a club has also shifted with the cancel anytime policy and charging full retail price for a newly released game puts even less importance of sticking to one or two game clubs.

Being able to use game club credits to purchase premium games would make a difference, another club charges 2 game credits for their premium games which I think is fair and I would pay that at other clubs (and here of course) for premium games - no problem.

I wont be buying any more collectors editions at $19.99. I bought one 2 weeks ago and regretted not waiting for the basic version. I will be happily waiting for the basic version for Mortimer Beckett.

Wonder how long we will have to wait for the regular edition? I'm NOT buying the CE. Bought Dire Grove CE, because it was MCF and I didn't want to wait. Awesome game, but I'm NOT buying another CE until the next MCF.

I only want extra gameplay. I don't care about strategy guides, which I don't use. (I made it through Riven - you think I need a stinking guide for Mortimer Beckett??? ) I don't care about wallpaper, soundtracks, videos, or concept art. If there is not significant extra play involved - and not a lousy jigsaw puzzle, either - I am NOT buying another CE. Period.

If they want to make these games double the price, like they do at iWin, maybe. But NOT 3x. No.

WOW, It's every were. Bottom line is, if you enjoy the game buy it. If you want to wank about everything, OK, don't buy it. Me, personally, I've been anticipating this one for a long time. And I will buy it. If you can't afford it, why are you even playing on line? Game House does a great job in providing good quality games. Thanx !!!

The Lost King worth 19.99$ (with or without extra stuffs) ... Its a new generation of casual games (great graphics, great gameplay = MASTERPIECE!) ... Game House made big mistake because there is no screenshoots and video must be much better ! ... Anyway ,new Morty will be game of the year 2010. (remember this post) and time will prove it !!!

I think its jacked up that because I am not a fun pass memeber but I buy games like crazy in here that I cannot get the special edition. I have waited for this game for a long time and I think gamehouse is screwing me. So I guess they do not want my money anymore so I am canceling my membership

I am having issues with the 3rd lvl and I am thinking that it is a glitch in the game. But this glitch is stopping me from moving forward to the next lvl. can anyone help?

So, from what I understand, the game was released January 1st to Funpass members. I am having a problem with the game and wondered if someone else was having any issues as well. I get right to the point where I put my name in before starting the game and the game crashes and windows tells me there was an error. Any clue what could be happening? I've done a registry cleaner and virus scan. Nothing APPEARS to be wrong, but obviously something is. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with no success. I posted in the general support forum as well and didn't get any reasonable answers. Any help is appreciated. Thanks bunches.

One of the big draws (for me anyway) is finding pieces of the objects which very few games do. This game was just finding whole objects. Figuring out how to use the objects was simple and the puzzles were far too easy. There are eight levels and I finished the game in under two hours. Worst of the series in my opinion.

Hmm so after the release date & you have fun pass- will you get the premium edition or the regular edition? Id like the premium, but wont be getting the funpass for a few weeks (going with the whole year instead of monthly because of the huge savings)
Unlike you pros, I appreciate the tips and walkthroughs It will be awhile before one shows up online when a game is brand new. i also happen to like jigsaw puzzles...
just dont want to fork over 20 for the game now and then a years worth of fun pass in a couple weeks...I rarely replay finished games anyway

Thanks for explaining the release of this game. I didn't realize that it was only for GamePass members, finally it is Jan 20 and I tried to download the game and it kept going back to the same screen, and no download button. I was able to get the demo, so I don't have to wait to play. But my question is why won't you release it at the same time for both memberships? That would seem fair. I don't want to do the funpass trial, because, I'd probably have to call to cancel it. Can you give a definite date of release for the fun pass members? Thanks so much!

Doing the FunPass 7-day trial is a no-brainer (play Mortimer and all other games you want FREE for a week? great deal!). Of course, when you sign up, you have to provide your credit card details and address and all (as with all subscription-based services).

Cancellation is very quick and painless -- it's just a one click button on your Account page. No need to call. You can do it yourself. Cancel on the 6th day, before they charge your credit card, if you wish. All it takes to cancel is a click of a button.

Wait a minute...its not available with my gamepass?...You had me waiting with this one credit for this game...and it's not even being offered? I'm sitting here at 1:22am for the release..and it's a no-show..where is it guys?...and if the "other" game is only worth one credit...tells me my business is not needed very much. I'm very disappointed with this website,.....

During the opening scene the the audio of the 2 characters would get stuck and the same words would be repeated over and over and some of the audio would not play at all. And during the game some of the music would get suck in a look of a note or 2 and would just repeat for a few seconds. I think this is redicilous. We had to wait all this time and yet they could not work out all the bugs.

I love the Mortimer Beckett games but have switched to Mac since the last one. I was so disappointed to think I had to download this game to a windows computer but I guess now I'm not so disappointed. From this entire MB forum it seems that its not working, costs too much and there's no strategy guide. I guess its not a big loss after all.

[The 20th is here and the game will not download for me. Tried it 3 times and can't get it. What a real disapointment. Some people got it to download but I don't know how. I tried 3 times with no luck. Well so much for that game and maybe my membership too. I was disapointed when I got he last game because I did not get a c. d. and was willing to pay for one , and it said that you could get one but wouldn't send it.

I am new to posting here, I need help with mortimer Beckett and the Lost King Premium Edition. I think it is chapter 4, it is in the Ocean Realm, shipwreck in the porthole. There is a combination, I cannot figure out, please help me, I have had enough with this chapter. They did very good job on this game, worth the 19.99.

I don't know if something is wrong with the keys, when you turn them its like they turn a couple of times. I cannot get the combination correct on it.
