I just sat down at the computer and thought oh oh oh... it's Thanksgiving in America!! That means Mortimer Beckett has arrived at long last.

I was a bit surprised to see all the comments, an no MB!!!

It's odd that no-one in an obviously administrative position has dropped in to let us know what is going on... especially since it's been 'due for release shortly' since forever. Ok, maybe something has gone wrong, so be it. It's the lack of information which is frustrating.

As for the level of expectation, it's Mortimer Beckett. What more can you ask for? Just hope he arrives SOON.

After some scratching, I found this on another gamesite. It quotes the GameHouse forums, though I am not sure where it is here.

from gamehouse forum:

Hello,

I said our publisher wanted to release the game in time for

Thanksgiving and that indeed was the plan at the time I wrote you.

However, the plan has changed. Since it's not my decision, I can't

give you any exact info on the actual release date. I can only suggest

you keep an eye on the Gamehouse website and the Lost King forum where

our publisher will hopefully post some info soon.

I apologize if I misled you by my earlier statement, but it was not

intentional.

Best regards,

Dusan "Duke" Kostic

Managing partner, Programmer

Paprikari

I found the other post in the Lounge. Must say, I'm pretty bummed about this. Lots of hype, and no show.

i would be willing to bet it has something to do with the negoations (sp?)between Gamehouse and paprikari. Mortimer is probably finished and waiting for us junkies to buy but they are fighting over money or rights. ugh.

BTW: got to agree with phatkhat and the others, i really like the Big Fish site, nice to see there is a site out there that actually gives a rip about those of us who spend any kind of money on games in this economy. thanks all for the suggestion to head to Big Fish

DIRE GROVE
one of the best hidden object puzzle games out there, i just did the same, blew tht 20 bucks and you are completely right MORE THAN WORTH IT!!!!! I really like the walk thou, nice to have serious help close when i get stuck without going out at hitting all the sites. I don't even care this game isn't on gamehouse or that i am raving about it on their site, this game is well worth it and will at least keep me busy for awhile until MB comes out if ever.

I have to agree with you about having the walkthrough built in. An ingenious idea, and yet I haven't seen anyone actually do it before. It's so nice not to have to minimize or exit the game when I need a little hint as to what's next. When I see that a game is created by Big Fish Studios, I get excited because I KNOW it's going to rock! (Can you say, "Drawn: The Painted Tower?"...LOL).

P.S. So what if we're talking about Big Fish Games on GameHouse forums? GameHouse isn't giving us much to talk about, and they still haven't bothered to say one word here about what's really going on with MB and the Lost King.

I would like to know why the big secret on the release date. Someone has to know what is going on with Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King. Is it ever going to be released?

Hi all
So great to see all of the enthusiasm here for the new Mortimer game. I wanted to stop in and just update everyone and thank you for your patience and apologize for what appears to be a misunderstanding -- We're working with our partner to put the final finishing touches on this game so we can make sure it is the absolute best Mortimer ever. We know you're going to love it. The current planned release date is late January 2010, so mark your calendars now. We're also excited to announce that Mortimer and the Lost King will be the first-ever Premium Edition game release here at GameHouse. This means that the full-version download game will also include a helpful, level-by-level Strategy Guide, along with special, limited-edition bonus content that won't be available anywhere else. Stay tuned for updates!

Kristy, is it going to be like what BFG did? You know, charging $19.99 and not being able to use Fun Pass or Fun Ticket for it? Is this going to be a 'Collector's Edition' thing? Just want to know ahead of time so I don't get my hopes up...... Because if it's going to be like that, I won't be able to buy it.... I'm not being snarky, I just don't want to get excited if that's what is going to happen....

Thanks

I won't buy a "Premium" version of this game. As much as I liked the first 2 there is not, imo, enough content to them to warrant that. If a regular version isn't released *shrug* there's *always* another good game around the corner.

Just wanted to say thank you to Kristy for finally stopping in to give us some official word as to what's going on with Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King. Late January 2010 is well past the expected release of "Fall 2009", but at least it gives us a fairly concrete release date (one would hope) to mark on our calendars. (continued in following post due to character limit).

As far as any "first-ever Premium Edition game release here at GameHouse", if that means it's going to have a $19.95 price tag attached to it, I won't be buying it. And it's not because I'm averse to paying $19.95 for a particularly well created game with high production values and lots of extras. As my previous posts will show, I paid the full price for MCF: Dire Grove and feel it was well worth it. No, the reason I won't be buying the premium version of MB and the Lost King is because I have too many bad feelings over how this whole release was handled. My feeling is that now that you've disappointed me so many times and made me wait so long, I can wait a bit longer for a non-premium version. (continued in following post due to character limit).

This is a tough time for our economy, and those of us who spend what "disposable" income we have on games want to feel our business is appreciated. If you want us to spend $19.95 on a game, you should stroke us a little instead of disappointing us. I won't lie. I won't say I don't care if the game is ever released at this point, but I will say that, while I'm still looking forward to it, I've definitely lost the enthusiasm I had.(continued in following post).

Also, should anyone from Paprikari pop in and happen to read this, my comments are in no way a reflection on the quality and enjoyability of the Mortimer Beckett games. They are, without a doubt, some of my favorite titles, beautifully created and enormously fun to play. I just feel like the release of this particular addition to the series wasn't handled very well...and how you treat your loyal fans matters almost as much as the quality of your games.

I could not have said it better. I have lost all excitement about this game. gotten to the point now that although game house was finally able to find time for us mere customers I am very very disappointed in game house and am really finding it hard to trust what they are saying, next post will be mid jan 2010 saying oops sorry guys we have to put the release date on hold yet again. finishing touches? They couldn't have told us that in Oct. I still think it is ready and gamehouse and creators are arguing over rights, money and such. ok off my soap box off to big fish

I think they saw the success of the Big Fish MCF release and pulled the game to add "extras" so they could charge 19.95 and call it a collectors edition. Unfortunately, Mortimer is not in the same class as Dire Grove or MCF in general. I don't think it will work for them.

Absolute BINGO!!
They have copied everything else Big Fish has done (pricing, etc), why not this?
And I will add, too, that I will not buy a "Collector's Edition". The Beckett games are good, very good....but not up to the quality of Dire grove.

And thumbs down to GH for keeping people in the dark...you knew this would be delayed and said nothing!

The should not post a date of Fall 2009 when they had no clue when it would be ready. They did the same thing with the last Mortimer game and it took an additional 6 months or so before it was released. Paprikari fail miserably, they even have a link they say they will send you updates, I sign for it and NEVER got any. Now the link on GameHouse says it will be released soon well, an additional 2 months is not my idea of soon. So this is twice they lead us to believe it will be any day, just to find out it will be late January... if it is ready in January.

It's absolutely disgusting the way the loyal fans have been treated over this, no updates or anything at all other than to say it will be ready in 2010. For goodness sake how long does it take to put the 'finishing touches' to a game so that it will be the best ever? Now call me cynical but how on earth do they know that the finishing touches will take until January 2010? Thank goodness for Big Fish Games of which I'm a loyal member. Now they do know how to treat their customers, to date I've received a Felix Fish soft toy, a Felix keyring, a few free games and a Felix trophy type thing, you know it's lovely to be recognised and appreciated and also know that they take the time to send these things, not only that but they do have some very good games and try to include all genres and not just numerous HOB's some of which can be so tedious I don't even complete the demo version.

If Mortimer and the Lost King is going to be a $19.95 game, I won't be buying. I also don't like the fact that you are copying Big Fish's idea. Your site is not near the quality of theirs. Your customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Teaming with Real Arcade was not a good move. Things have been messed up since that merger for me.

I would bet that MB & the Lost King is actually ready for release in the Non-Special Edition form. Adding the "special" content is what will take until Jan.2010. It sounds like GH may make us wait until January and then charge extra for the game. No one from GH or the developer has answered the posts here asking about the price and the ability to use a Fun Ticket. Since GH members are already upset about the delay it seems like GH would announce that the price will be $6.99 and at least give us something to be happy about. But since they haven't done that, it seems that more bad news is on the way in the form of a higher price. I hope I'm wrong.

well i finally figured out how to cancel my membership, so this will be the last you hear from me. hope you all enjoy mortimer beckett and the lost king. I certainly won't be playing it. gamehouse, real arcade and the makers have given me such a rotten time with delays, no answers and few comments I give up. game isn't that important and i will spend my gaming money somewhere else.

There's a free Strategy Guide that comes with the game. It will tell you how to solve the bookcase puzzle.

SPOILER: Look inside the House. There's a stack of paintings, and one of those paintings has the solution to the puzzle.

Jan 20 2010 finally the new Mortimer Beckett! I really enjoyed the other games so I was eager to get this ..I downloaded it and it shut down 3 times before I could "fool" it into opening. Not a good omen, then I find I cannot use my "free game" to get this game. Why would I pay an additional 19.99 to get this game? The "collectors addition version" is a rip off in my opinion.
Over all I think the Game house site is very dissapointing to yearly members..I was with Real Arcade since 2007 this is not what I payed for.. will probably not renew as with others I tend to go to Big Fish to check out their newest offers via "free trial".

To get the hex nut, you must first have the glowing powder in your inventory (found in the blue tent to the right of the elephant stage). Place the glowing powder on the hex nut. After that, spotting it will be as easy as pie!

Was sooo excited about this one as I have thoroughly enjoyed the other 2. Downloaded the free trial to give it a whirl first and am unable to get beyond entering my name on the download before it bombs with the following message "Lost King game has encountered a problem and needs to close." Have tried it over 5 times and same message each time.
Highly disappointed

this game is soooooo disappointing. been waiting since november and when it finally comes out it is a complete dud. way too easy, able to finish in no time. it took all the improvements that were put into time paradox and threw them out the window. a mild challenge here and there but overall not worth it at all. big fish and mcf are definitely the way to go if you want a challenging game that actually engages you and makes you feel like part of the story. if you are on the fence, dont get mortimer. go to big fish, pay the 7 bucks for dire grove or return to ravenhearst. this game sucked!!!!

I enjoy the Mortimer Beckett too. But now that is finally here, you have to pay full price for it. I have been with GH for a year now and have enjoyed my 5.99 games but if they are going to change things and charge full price even if you belong, that stinks and may have to go somewhere else
