after I get all 4 of the items - there is NO place to go - nothing lights up or shimmers; and help tells me 'there is nothing here' in all the rooms - I have a problem with this game crashing and have used alernating compatability e.g. win 2000, 95, xp, etc and it still will not go further; have used full window size and small inset size and same problem - this was the free game yesterday and it will not work

What can I do?

I don't have a solution for you, I just wanted to add that I have the same issue in the cave when I am supposed to be getting the "locked" items: "gun powder" and "sodium sulfate" and when I click hint it says "no hint can be found". Someone please help! (I didn't want to start a new thread for the same problem just because it was in a different area.. Hope you don't mind)

I had the same problem the first time I played the game. From the looks of it, looking for objects for everything else should be done first, then the items for sodium sulfate, and finally the items for the gunpowder. From my experience, I had to restart the entire game in order to get it right.
