can't figure out how to open safe. can anyone help?

ITs the safe with a matrix of 4x4 handles - I managed to open it once, but cannot figure out the system to repeat it - that's what you would like to know, since every time you have to skip a question you waste a lot of time gathering the hints needed for that.
Also I was unable to lacate the yang/yin symbol in the airplane office - any hints available?

Hi Scribe,
Safe with matrix of 4 x 4 handles: Turn all the handles horizontal and then click the crank to open the safe. Clicking on a handle will turn every handle vertical and horizontal of it as well. Click each handle once to turn them all horizontal and enter the safe.
Airplane Office: Sorry I have lost you about the yin/yang symbol.
In my game it had a desk bell to be clicked to talk to the pilot.
A drawer to be opened and oilcan to be added from inventory. A desk drawer to be opened and tape to be taken for inventory. A tape to be used on the cord to repair it; to restore the power for the machine. The end of the cord had to be plugged into the wall. To make the lever work again I had to use the Oilcan. To restore the machine back to working order I had to click on it and then I clicked on the pilot.
