How to grab/move objects if playing on an iPod Touch?

I downloaded the game to my iPod Touch. I need to move an item (move the bird's egg to the nest). How can I do this on an iPod Touch? I tried double-tapping and holding my finger on the item, but these don't work. I would appreciate any ideas.
