What are the towels / blankets for in the first inn for and how do I use them?

I believe those are actually newspapers.

You give them to the customers to make them happy. Give them out either before the food or along with the food.

The red one keeps the customers happy for the whole day, the grey ones keep them happy for a little while.

Give preference to the kids and impatient ladies or men.

I agree that is a great site. That site actually helped me beat Princess Izabella-A Witch's Curse. Hadn't it been for their site and that walkthrough for that game I never would have beaten that game.
