My favorite memory was playing in the woods behind my aunts house with my cousin and brother. We would build a fort down by the creek that ran through and play all sorts of pretend games...One day we would be Robin Hood and his merry band...another time we might be pirates on a ship. My cousin and brother were my best friends for a long time.

My favorite childhood memory is sitting in my grandmas kitchen. I would watch my grandma make pies. She would always have a little of the dough leftover to give me to roll out with my play rolling pin. Then she would give me a little cinnamon, sugar, and butter to put on my dough. She would bake it with the pies. I would watch it carefully with her help to keep it from burning. That would taste so good with my glass of cold milk.

My favorite childhood memories are with my grandfather. We used to go up his house every Sunday. I used to try to go with my dad when he let me. I was young and had to be up for school so my dad rarely ever let me go with him late at night. My dad went up there every day to put out my grandfather's medicine.

He died Oct 5,1993.

My favorite childhood memory is of helping my father build a fire in the bbq grates at a park we used to have picnics in. I would gather all the twigs and he would get the bigger pieces of wood. Once the fire was lit he would cook our picnic lunch and then my sister and I would roast marshmallows on the ends of twigs we found in the nearby woods. Great smells and great food and no worrying about calories!!

Hi everyone!

We're so excited about you sharing your favorite childhood memories with everyone here. Thank you very much and please keep your stories coming!

My colleague Jen and I thought you might enjoy seeing how we conduct our daily drawing of a winner of a free copy of Emily’s Childhood Memories Premium Edition from among the people who posted their childhood memories on the previous calendar day (across all three Forums where this thread appears).

Jen copies down each contestant's Forum Screen Name on a piece of paper and carefully folds it up into a small chit. Then she places all of the entries in her 'lucky coffee mug' (shown above) and brings them to me. I then reach in and pull out a winner! Today's winner, 'lilindian1958' (winning entry shown in the second photo) has been notified by email.

Thanks again for contributing to the excitement surrounding this new game's launch on February 3rd!

Best wishes,

Bill and Jen

My favorite childhood memories are playing baseball in my front yard with all the neighborhood kids and my dad. We spent every evening out there playing in the summer! Many of those kids I am still friends with 30 years later!

my favorite childhood memories were spending time on my grandparents farm. there were animals and lots of fruit and veggies. my cousins, my sister and i used to pick the fruit and veggies and pretend we had a farm stand and then when my grandpa would come home from work he would yell at us and tell us we better eat all the stuff we picked (he was really a teddy bear) or the contests we used to have to see who could pick the most dandelions and throw them at the edge of the garden. at the time we didn't realize we were gramps free labor to keep his yard weed free but looking back now i still laugh about it.

I went through a phase when I was 3-4 years old when I was OBSESSED with belly buttons! I wanted to see everyone's belly button, I even made my mom draw them on my dolls and stuffed animals so they would be "anatomically correct". It got really out of hand. One time at the grocery store - much to my mother's total humiliation - I walked up to a complete stranger, lifted up her shirt and stuck my finger in her belly button. I didn't say anything to her, I just did it. I can remember the look on her face and my mom's; its' definitely a priceless memory! The other day I came across my Mrs. Beasley doll and found the belly button that mom drew on her - it made me laugh and I just had to call her to talk about it.

My favorite childhood memory would probably be at my Grandfather's farm. He had an old telephone out in the garage/barn and it only worked to call inside the house (the phone in the kitchen). He had it so that my grandmother could call him in for meals. My sister and I used to use it all the time and pretend to be ghosts or goblins calling. It was fun, because we couldn't get in trouble for playing with it. I also loved going to the Ostego County fair with him, because we always got to bet on the Pig Racing and my sister and I each won a ribbon (separate years) and when we didn't win we got a coloring book anyway. It was fun.

One of my favorite things to do as a child was to ride my bicycle. I was seven when I received a very old full size girls bike that was a hand me down from an aunt. I was small for my age, so the large full size bike was a lot for me to handle. I could only stand on the pedals and coast or pedal. If I hopped up onto the seat I could not reach the pedals so I had no brakes. In those days (1954) all of the kids bikes had pedal brakes and no brakes on the handlebars.

In order to learn how to ride the bike I would start at the top of a small hill in our yard and put one foot on a pedal and push off down the hill and try to get the other foot on the other pedal. At the same time I was trying to balance this big bike and steer it. The biggest problem was that at the bottom of the small hill was a pear tree that I had to navigate around. Needless to say, I smacked into that pear tree more than once until I mastered the balancing act.

My childhood. In a farm, fruitful trees in the back yard, stream to the bottom, cows, horses, chickens, pigs. The green everywhere, the nature surrounding the life and doing a better life of the life. I came for the city, the nature was, but forever it will be inside of me. Longings.
I love Delicious Games!

I grew up in a small town in NW FL and had a great childhood. To pick just one memory is very difficult but here goes...

Our house was a street over from a large park. Through our neighboorhood and the park was a large ditch. On the way to the park we would explore the ditch and do things such as catch bullfrogs, tadpoles and dig up red clay and mold it. It was always such an adventure going to the park to play. Some of my best memories involve exploring the ditch and woods and pick flowers on the way to the park with my friends.

I was about 7 years old, and we often had family reunions out at the farm. I had gotten to visit the 2 horses there, one pony named Flicka and a Black & White Pinto. Up until that point, I had not gotten to ride the horses. Finally, my parents let me ride Pinto, the larger horse. It was great fun! I decided not to ride Flicka, because one of my cousins tried to get on, and Flicka took off down the dirt road, and my cousin finally fell off! Well, my cousin was fine, just a little soar, but not really hurt. I loved Flicka, but decided she was too wild for me!

When I was a baby, my mother, father & several aunts & uncles went over to my great grandmother's farmhouse, to get some furniture. My mom liked a bed upstairs, but it had to be taken apart, since the only way to move the bed was to take it down a the one and only narrow staircase in the 2 story house, with a roof over a porch, old wooden screen doors, no basement and no air conditioning. As they took the bed apart, they heard footsteps on the porch, and the screen door open & shut, someone walking across the floor, and coming up the one and only staircase. When they turned around to look, no one was there...! So the men went down the staircase, looked around the house, and checked outside. There were no cars, and no people to be seen anywhere around the farm. It appears to have been a ghost! The women quickly left the men to get the bed. My mom got the bed, and refinished it. We have the bed today, it looks beautiful, and thankfully, no ghosts came with it!

I loved Christmas. Every year my dad worked really hard to get us some of the latest hot toy, which alternated who would get because there was 3 of us. But, each and every year my dad would wake us up maybe a couple of hours after we went to bed. I would never know who was more excited, us or my dad, but he would gently wake us up proclaiming Ol' St. Nick's arrival. We would all go down stairs and start to open up gifts. Then we would spend another hour or so playing with these games with our father. It was so fun playing Rock'em Sock'em Robot, or Stop Thief..or some other choice toy or game. My father would then make us all breakfast and would not begrudge us afterwards to get back to sleep. It was always fun in our house from Late Christmas Eve until Christmas morning. I miss him so. He left us in 2007. I just wish he had stayed around long enough to do this with the Grandkids, my babies, but, I try so hard to make this into the same wonderful memory for my children.

I´m from Germany and first of all :
I hope you all excuse my bad english

My favorite memory is with my Granny -
we were in vacation and had a lot of fun.
We enjoyed every minute we shared.
She always was the most important person in my life.
We had a lot of walks - went swimming and laughed all the time.
So I will never forget the time I spent with my Grandma.
She passed away 4 years ago -
and I miss her each day.
So the memories of my childhood is all I have from her ---

I´m not sad anymore -
because I´m so grateful I had this special Lady in my Life ---

Good luck to all of you

My favorite child hood memories include the times we got to spend time with our extended family. My Dad was in the Army and we were sometimes far away from family. It was also great to be able to see many different states. One of my favorite memories was when it snowed in Texas, and we collected snow from many yards to build a snowman. lol
One of my fondest memories in the last few years has been playing EVERY Delicious Deluxe game. It is my favorite time management game ever. I thought we were never getting another one, it had been so long. I can't wait to get it.

When i was a little girl, my father used to buy me a doll almost every month, so i have a family of dolls of various sizes and make, and i assigned a name for each of them. They even have designated relations and ranks as to the eldest or youngest of the siblings since we all belong to one big happy family! I would dress them up and organize a tea party, have them all seated around a kids' table set up pretty tea plates filled with real food like cookies and muffins and invite my 2 younger brothers to join us for tea. All the tea parties were a success and sometimes the dolls have a fashion show and my brothers are the guest judges. We all had good fun times then and that was really memorable. I still have most of my dolls coz my daughter has grown up and ceased to play with them so I kept them for memories sake.

One of my fav. childhood memories was playing "cowboys" with my two younger brothers. We'd spend forever describing what our horses looked like, their names, etc., what we were wearing, and I being the oldest , always had first choice. LOL. then, with a loud "dun-ta-da" we'd all ride off into the sunset. Great fun !!!

I grew up in a small town in Ohio in the fifties. I loved the summers the most. In those days children belonged outside until the street lights came on. We rode bikes, played "cowboys and indians", monopoly in the garage on rainy days. It was a perfect time. Perry, Ricky and me - the best of friends.

I used to live in Arizona and my best friend at the time had grapefruit trees in her backyard. Every day, I'd go to her house and we'd play school (funny because we'd always complain about going to school) and almost every day, we'd grab grapefruits off the tree and eat them with sugar on it. That and every time it would rain, we'd all get on our bikes and drive to the end of the street and skid our bikes in the water getting soaking wet. I'll bet mom didn't like seeing us coming home all dirty and wet. I lost her 2 years ago and miss her every day. You don't realize how much you take someone or something for granted until it's too late. Cherish the time you have with your loved ones.

My fondest memory when I was a kid, was the time my sister, brother and I decided to make a cake when my mom was out. My mom had just finished washing, ironing and hanging her pretty pink kitchen curtains up, back then she did not have the washing machines we have today we had the old wringer washer style with the two metal tubs for rinse water..well anyway we were using a hand mixer and we were mixing the chocolate batter and my sister pulled the mixer out of the batter and spun the batter all over our moms fresh clean curtains ....we laugh about that moment to this day! But we sure felt bad then.

one of my favorite memories was when i went to Yellowstone with my mother,my brother and my step-father. My step-father pulled out a $50.00 bill and tore it in half and gave 1 half to my brother and the other to myself. he told us that was all the money we were going to get so not to spend it all in one place. we must have spent 30minutes trying to find someone with a piece of tape to tape that thing back together but we also had so much fun running all over Old Faithfull Lodge looking for the tape and trying to decide what to do with the money once we repaired our small fortune. Of course being kids(just 11 and 10) we blew it on all kinds of junk food and toys but it was a blast while it lasted.

One of my favorite chilhood memories is about the time I spent on my attic, playing with my best friend and her brother... We liked to pretend we were characters on video games like Final Fantasy... Or that we were part of books, like Harry Potter... I remember running around there, making battles or learning spells... I was what, 8 years old?

Now I'm in High School... My best friend is on the last year of Middle School and her brother is in College...

And... Now, in the summer, we play MMORPG's together xD Sometimes, I'm glad to see that things haven't changed that much... ^-^

My favorite childhood memory is of my father. My Dad looked like Santa Clause and I was so little I used to hang on his long beard. I used to tell everyone in school that I was lucky because Santa was my Daddy . He never dressed in a suit for christmas, but for me he didn't have to. He was the light in my eye, as I was in his. He passed away when I was thirteen on New Years Eve. I am now 36 and I have children of my own and now pass on all the love he gave to me. I love you Dad, always in my heart . Thank you for letting me share.

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS, AND I HAD TO GO TO HOSPITALS TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME. IT WAS A VERY HARD TIME FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I WAS ONLY 3 THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO GO AWAY FOR A WHOLE MONTH OF TESTING. I WAS VERY TROUBLED WITH NIGHT TERRORS TOO. I WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED TO HAVE AUTISISM. SO MY MOM AND DAD BROUGHT HOME TWO LITTLE BLACK KITTENS (THEY WERE TWINS) THAT HAD BEEN ABANDONED IN A JUNK YARD. THAT IS MY FAVORITE CHILDHOOD MEMORY! I CALMED DOWN A BIT, I LOVED THEM! AND HAD LESS NIGHT TERRORS WITH MY KITTIES SLEEPING WITH ME. WE FOUND THAT RELATING TO ANIMALS WAS EASIER FOR ME THAN RELATING WITH PEOPLE. I STILL HAVE ONE OF THE CATS SHE IS 17 YEARS OLD NOW! HER BROTHER DIED 6 YEARS AGO. HE WAS MY FAVORITE CAT.

One of my favorite childhood memories is camping out in our backyard on summer nights. We would make tents out of old blankets hung on the clothes line with clothes pins. Because there were so many kids in our families not too many families could afford sleeping bags but, we didn't care. We just got a blanket and our pillow and our mom would pop some popcorn and we ate it out of a paper grocery bag. Our beverage was usually cool-aid. What fun we had!

i grew up in a fairly large family with 6 brothers and sisters. we lived in the tetons and rockies of Wyoming/Idaho were you have 9 months of snow and 3 months of summer so we spent alot of time having snowball fights and sledding. on most weekends when my uncle was off and we had a fair amount of snow build up we would go into to mountains and tie huge inner tubes from his truck behind his chevy and he would drag us all over the medow and then we would build a huge bonfire and drink chocolate and roast marshmellows. it is one of my favorite memories and it makes me sad to think so many of todays kids are missing out on these simple pleasures.

One of my favourite memories is when I was 9 years old: one day when I came home from school I had a big surprise: my mother adopted a dog, her name was Cleo and she was very playfull and good and .... My parents was taking care of little chickens (a few days old), they were so little and yelow and soft and we kept them in our kitchen for about a week (until they were big enough to stay in the yard).... and Cleo adopted them like she was their mother and protected them from anyone, including us and the family cat (the cat was also a good friend of Cleo). One day the family cat took a chicken and tried to run with it in his moth, but Cleo scared away the cat (saving the chicken) and from then on she was no longer a friend to that cat ...until the chickens grew up and went in their special yard. After a while Cleo forgive her ex-friend cat and become friends again. She was always carring and lovely.

When I was a kid, my mom would have "Hot Cocoa Nights." This is where we would get up in the middle of the night and I would talk about what was bothering me. I wouldn't talk about it during the day, but somehow she helped me be able to talk about it when we had our special "Hot Cocoa Nights." I now have passed this on to my son, except we don't wait until the middle of the night because he goes to school. Its a good way to get things off of our minds that have been bothering us. I now take care of my mom and we still have "Hot Cocoa Nights." This thing that my mom did for me as I was growing up helped me out so much and made my problems more bearable. She took the time to listen and help me get through some major problems I had. For this I will always be thankful to her.

I remember being so happy with all my brothers, sisters and cousins and to this day that is the best christmas I ever had it was such a happy occasion. Sadly My Dad and my sister Susan has since passed away. I am an adult now with 2 wonderful children and because of that christmas I try and make their christmas as magical as ever.

I have some fond memories of when I was practicing Tae Kwon Do. While training in this martial art form, I learned a lot and also participated in a couple of martial arts tournaments (earning some trophies too), broke my first boards (in a charity fundraiser called Break-a-thon), and finally earned my black belt after years of hard work. Sadly, I hurt my knees and couldn't do it anymore, but the time I spent in Tae Kwon Do will never be forgotten.

I think my most favorite childhood memory was when I was 5 years old and I was going outside to go to my dance classes on a very cold day in Florida. I went outside to find it had snowed and there were huge icecicles hanging from the house and trees. I wanted to take the icecicles with me to dance class to show my friends, so my mom put them on a tray. By the time we arrived at class they had melted. This was the first and last time I saw snow in florida (1976)

A Favorite Childhood Memory... Flying Down the Stairs.

Peter Pan was my childhood hero... and maybe he still is, as I never grew up! But oh how I waited for him when I was small by leaving my window open a crack... so he could slip in and take me to Never Never Land. And oh how I wished I could fly.

Well, one night (I must have been 5 or 6) I woke up and thought, "I CAN fly. I CAN!" I tip-toed to the top of the stairs and just knew if I closed my eyes real tight and concentrated really hard I could fly down the stairs. After losing my concentration a times and a few steps down, I called on Peter for help and closed my eyes one more time... and I flew down the rest of the stairs! Well, imagine how proud I was when I got to the bottom, opened my eyes, and saw that I had actually done it.

Well this took a lot of energy, so I went into the kitchen, sat down a peeled a banana and started to eat it. My mom must have sensed that I was awake, because she came down and sat beside me and said, "What are you doing awake?" "Eating a banana," I replied, "because I flew down the stairs." She looked a bit amazed, then started to smile and tucked me back into bed for the night.

To this day, I still think I actually flew that night, for just a short distance. And no, I didn't land with a thump, but with a swoop. Thank gosh that satisfied me and I never tried it again, but can wishing really make things so? I wish I still had that pure faith.
