punchcard

I found the first punch card but the machine won't do anything when I try to make the second one, so I'm stuck.
Can someone please help me? I have even gone to the walkthrough site for this game & tried what it told me to do but it still doesn't work.

Hi Maffa41, Checklist
Check please what you have already done, something is missing, which triggers it.
Boat House: Zoomed in on the decoding machine and found the paper role and code machine handle.
Zoomed in on the punch card machine to find a button. Returned to the decoding machine, and placed the button. Pressed both buttons. Got the piece of paper that comes out and read it.
Returned the paper role and handle to the machine. Clicked on the card slot, to find the punch card in pieces and found them all. Returned to the decoding machine and clicked on the card slot again. Rearranged all the pieces to fix the card. Used the button on the bottom left to rotate the parts. Went back to the punch card machine and flipped the following switches: a, b, c, d, e, 2, 4, 5, 6. Pressed the start button to make a new punch card. Returned to the decoding machine, and put your 2nd punch card into the card slot. Pulled the handle to read the message from the punch card.
