I've finished the tutorial and the normal modes. The game refuses to acknowledge I've finished, and will not open challenge mode.

What happens is that the game opens level 43 of normal mode, and I have to play through the end of normal mode again, and it will give me the option of continuing to challenge or going back to the main menu. No matter which I choose, the next time I play, I'm forced to start on level 43 of normal mode, and challenge mode remains locked.

This is ridiculous.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm reinstalling the game now, which will likely erase everything that I've done thus far. If this happens again with the new download, I'm going to have a nervous breakdown.

SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

Ok, so redownloading did NOT help so I contacted customer service. I learned that Build-A-Lot 4 does NOT work on Windows 7 (my OS). Thankfully, they had a solution for me. This is what they said:

Try running the game in compatibility mode. This can only be done through the main Admin account.

1. Right-click on the game icon on your desktop.
2. Select Properties.
3. Go to the Compatibility tab in the Properties window.
4. Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
5. Make sure it says "Windows XP (service Pack 2)" under that.
6. Make sure you check the box for "Run this as an administrator".
7. Click OK.
8. Afterward, try running the game again. It may pop up a warning box -- if it does, be sure to click "allow" to allow the game to run.

I did this and now the game works perfectly!!! YAY!!!!
