after loading, i get the strangest sort of video gliche. a shadow screen overlays the image i should be seeing and the background music is staticky sorta... i have tried simplifying graphics but the problem persists. any clues? it's genre is just what i'm looking for.

Hi, can you send me screenshot or some more details as to what is exactly happening? When does this problem show up? From the start of the game or somewhere later?
