Reviews of Women's Murder Club - Death in Scarlet

The story line was enjoyable. The HOG aspect was severely lacking. The items were extremely tiny and difficult to fine. Which in itself is not a bad thing but, when only 5 hints are allowed per episode it becomes extremely frustrating. There are several HOG area in each episode. The mini-games are over simplistic also.

This is a great game! But it isn't new! it is the first game in the series I believe and I have played them all. However just thinking that because it was in the new games section that it was a new game made me use one of my funpasses on it and I was not very happy. It was very misleading to have it appear in the new game section.

After reading all the reviews about the limited number of hints, how hard it was to find HO items like the cork, and hard to see the items I was hesitant to buy this game. After the free hour trial I was hooked. Maybe on a laptop screen the HO items might have been hard to see and find but I was using a 19" monitor and I had no problems. The cork, the petri dishes and eyedroppers were not as hard to find as I expected. I did use maybe 2 or 3 hints the entire game. I would play it again after a "cooling off period." I guess your experience depends on how large a screen you are playing on.

I must agree with other reviewers that this is a real miss with the HO part. I agree that the objects are tiny and somewhat fuzzy. The other mini-games are lacking in my opinion, too. Then again I have not been a fan of the Women's Murder Club games, so perhaps others will find the story line interesting. I will pass this one up. On the plus side, the game loads flawlessly and the graphics are good except for the perhaps intentional or perhaps unintentional vagueness of the hidden objects.

This murder mystery was introduced when I was a customer of Real Arcade four years ago. My true rating for Death in Scarlet is 4.6 hence 5*. The plot line is great...I really enjoy that 4 women work together in solving the murder mystery. The HOs are numerous, cleverly hidden YET they are very small. You do need a keen eye to be a true detective. Word to the wise, you are only allowed 5 hints per chapter. The puzzles in this game can be challenging...love doing the forensic work!! If you are fairly new to GH & Women's Club mysteries please note that you can get a TRIPLE CRIME PACK including this game for one game credit. I took advantage of this offer. Try the free trial hour & the decision is yours. You will enjoy hours of sleuthing with the ladies.

I bought this game in 2008. It is a pretty good game though.

I usually love the Women's murder club games but had to give up on this one after the second HO scene because I was squinting too much to find the teeny tiny objects, and it gave me a headache! What a shame.

I liked the challenges in the puzzles---putting chemicals in order, etc. Felt I got to the end and wanted another investigation.

I enjoyed previous Murder Club games, but I think they use the same scenes from one game to another. Seems that they always start off with a murder under a bridge. Lab is always the same too. Are they just changing the victims names? Everything else seems exactly the same. Disappointed. Game was short. Some HO objects were so small that you had difficulty seeing them even after using a hint. And by the way, 5 hints is all you get per investigation. So use them wisely!

and not just to play detective. The hidden objects are nearly microscopic, and because of the contemporary art style, don't necessarily look the way you would expect, making the HO's extra hard to find. The forensic lab activities ask you to find petri dishes and medicine droppers. I know what these look like, but it was just by luck that I found them because of the art style and their tiny size. I didn't even complete the second investigation, when I realized that my nose was nearly to the laptop screen, and I was going to end up with a migraine. The mystery is why anyone would have designed a game like this. And the solution is to delete it!

This is my least favorite of the Women's Murder Club games. All of them have a nice mix of elements, with HO scenes, mini-puzzles (usually pretty easy), lab work actions, etc. It makes for a nice mix, and the story line is consistent and follows all the way through. The downside is how small the hidden objects are. The first time I played this game on a 22-inch screen, and that was bad enough. This time I was on a 14-inch laptop, which made some items nearly impossible to find. Even so, I consider this game a good value and even a good replay candidate if you have a large enough screen and set it aside for a few months before replaying as I did.

Engaging scenes and a gripping story line, this game is worth the money however, once you have solved the crime, you can't really play it again so good for a one off play. Some items are hard to see against the backgrounds, but that to me made for more of a challenge. Not gory but not for those with an aversion to dead bodies!

In the past I never passed on a Murder Club game; However, I am going to pass on this one! The objects are so small that looking for a cork in a dump site is like looking for a bottle cap in a landfill. I knew when I hit down load, and seen that the file size was about 1/5 the size of most HO games today, that this one was not going to amount to much! Since I see no need to subject myself to eye stain to complete a game, I am dumping this game into the cyber trash can immediately after I complete this review. I would rate this lower than a one if allowed.
