Love all of the Westward games. They make you think about what needs to be done, not a simple game.

I LOVE these Westward games -- I've gotten SO addicted to them! Westward 2 is an improvement from the 1st Westward in many ways, even though I liked the 1st a lot, too. For one, the map isn't blacked-out (until the characters explore those areas) as in the 1st game; and the challenges and goals are more fun and creative. The characters are more interactive on the screen (they actually work instead of walking around), and there are more options overall. It's also been fun re-playing the game as a different "hero" character, so the re-play factor is awesome. I really hope that Sandlot Games comes out with a 5th and 6th (etc.) version of this game series b/c they are so much fun!!!

I LOVE IT! Gameplay in Westward 2 is pretty much the same as Westward 1, so if you're familiar with #1 it's a piece of cake. And so far, no bugs! Yay! The best thing about #2 is that the tutorial is much shorter, and you can skip it altogether when you start a new game. In #1 each town has it's own hero; in #2 you choose your own hero before the game even starts. Your hero doesn't require a home or a job, but they will perform any task and participate in shoot-outs...and without getting killed. I also like that characters can fish, chop fallen logs, or manually work small gold veins to help out with food, wood, and gold. There are a few other features that make it more interesting, like a choice of sheriffs, an assortment of gunslingers, and a new method for acquiring new structures that makes the game feel more customized. Call me morbid, but I also get a kick out of the way bandits go down: almost Oscar-worthy. ;o) The only con I have is the the graphics. It's that distorted, stretchy Sims-type of stuff that personally I find irritating. But it doesn't detract from the fun of the game. Even if you're bored with #1, #2 is different enough to keep you entertained. If you're new to the Westward franchise and you find #2 confusing, try #1 first.

Enjoyed this game very much. Had to think to get through the many side quests, but not so challenging that it was frustrating. I like that I could save at various points in the game so I could replay levels and quests that had me stumped. Good overall game, recommend for adults and kids.
