This was a great game. I played the Artist Colony version for hours. I really enjoy the relaxing & easy pace of the game. I liked the works of art the colonists created, too. I can see a lot of thought went into the creation of this game. It's VERY addictive. The storyline is interesting, also. An all-around great game pack!

It had a cute story and was a nice change from the general round of time management and hidden object games that I usually play. Although the game play wasn't exactly captivating it was fun to play while listening to music or watching a video.

I think the fact that you get two games out of this is really where the value is. Both games start out very interesting - lots of quests, things to find & discover, money to make, upgrades to buy... they will entertain you for quite a few hours, but then things kind of stall out near the end. During the first hours of entertainment, it's relaxing, yet the quests are still engaging, so it works out to be an enjoyable play. I just wish they found a way to keep it going or end it better. Buried in Time seems to be going along great and then just kind of abruptly stalls and ends. It's definitely the shorter of the two. Artist Colony is a bit better in terms of the length and gameplay, but after a certain point I found myself questioning why I kept doing the same thing over and over again and wasn't going anywhere in the game, so eventually just got bored and never went back to playing. I do have to agree with the other poster's comment about the storyline not really matching the content. The story, particularly for Artist Colony was kind of weird, and like the game, didn't seem to be going anywhere. However, given all the negatives, I feel the game still presented enough hours of truly entertaining play to warrant 4 stars. I did keep going back to it when I had free time until the repetition set in. Basically, I feel like I got my money's worth.

This game bundle included two games, Buried in Time and Artist Colony. In each, the basic premise is simple: you have your characters, "sims", who are on a mission to discover one thing or another, as part of the story. To advance the story, you must perform tasks, such as digging and uncovering artifacts (Buried in Time) or creating master pieces and selling them to get money for fixing up the place (Artist Colony). The sims are controlled by simple click and drag. I played Artist Colony first. The game seemed fairly entertaining at first, because in the beginning there were many new things to do and discover. Quickly, however, the game turned mechanical: it was simply the same tasks, the same click and drag, over and over and over again. Very little challenge, very little thinking, very little - well, *anything*. The story was absolutely silly and pointless, I'm sorry to say, and what's worse, it didn't seem in any way connected to the actual game. (As a related side note: for the love of god, can we stop with the gratuitous "obligatory" romance plots in every game? Seriously. It's not attractive to anybody.) It was alright for one Sunday afternoon, though, if you're just looking for some no-attention clicking (why not, that's sometimes just the ticket). Buried in Time, I suppose, is the first in the SIMtastic series, and it showed. Even more mechanical than Artist Colony, it clearly still had its baby teeth. Most of the activities were of a simple click-wait variety and didn't result in anything very interesting. I stopped playing after uncovering the fountain, which is quite early in the game. The magnitude of instructions at the beginning was also a turn-off: there's intructions on how to play the game, and then there's just unnecessary handholding. All and all, Artist Colony might give you a passable way to pass a bit of time if you can't be bothered to get very involved in a game, but I'd give Buried in Time a miss.
