Necronomicon - The Dawning of Darkness

Prevent the end to all of humanity as we know it in Necronomicon - The Dawning of Darkness for Mac, a thrilling tale based on the works from H.P. Lovecraft.

The year is 1927 and William Stanton just received a strange visit from his lifelong friend Edgar. In a panic and making little sense, Edgar hands William an odd stone and then whisks away. Soon after, a doctor visits William stating that Edgar is suffering from delirium and needs to be placed in an institution. William decides to help locate Edgar, but soon discovers a horrifying secret that threatens all of mankind.

Follow William on his harrowing journey of discovery to save his friend and perhaps the rest of humanity. Travel to a coastal town and speak with locals to find Edgar, then discover the tale of the Old Ones, an ancient race that is set to return and wreak havoc. Solve challenging puzzles, obtain helpful objects, and stop the impending cataclysm. Is Edgar really insane or is there something more to it?

From the ad it sounded quite interesting, but the game design is terrible. No hint or help. Gamer has to figure out what he is suppose to figure out. I can't even figure out how to start the motorcycle without a key, and everything else is locked and needs a key, and there are no keys to be found. Who thought up this game? This game reminds me of Blue Madonna, and I eventually deleted it from my computer. So, too this one.

I tend to play time management or HO games, but I thought I would give this one a try. OH HOW AWFUL WAS THIS GAME??? My son walked behind me several times and said "Mom, those graphics are horrible!" I agreed, but I was trying, there was no direction, it was so slow moving, it took way too long to go between views, just turning in a room was horrible. There was not one redeeming quality I could find. I really did try, but I couldn't even get through the free trial it was so awful.

I just didn't get it. Graphics were too dark for me to see anything. Just wasn't for me.

This is a large file, point and click Adventure Game and nothing close to a hidden object genre game. "Therefore, Necronomican The Dawning of Darkness" should not be downloaded, played or evaluated by HO gamers--unless you would like to try playing--which I certainly recommend! Not for children or those prone to having nightmares, gamers have to put on their thinking caps and figure out what to do, where to go and forget about a built-in Strategy Guide for quick answers. The game is dark, the mood is even darker and the game itself is absolutely terrifying.--a stroke of genius! If you are a fan of horror and would like to play the game with some help, I suggest the Walkthrough would be of great assistance.

Even with both my computer's volume and the game's volume turned way up, I couldn't make out half of what they were saying. The zooming in circles gave me the immediate dizzies. No idea what I was supposed to do or where I was supposed to go (perhaps the talkers told me, but since I couldn't hear them....) Not the least bit interested in sticking this out to see if it would get better.

The game is horrible. The graphics are terrible. Interaction with the inventory is annoying. Has many many glitches. Only found out what to do next by reading a walkthrough because characters didn't say or do what they were supposed too and the next step in the story line appeared without me doing what I was supposed to. Map isn't labeled...have to use trial and error to figure out where things are. My first experience with a game I would give 0! Annoying and horrible!

This game is confusing. There is not strategy guide or hints. I've been playing for a half hour and can't get anywere. It's as if I'm just going in circles.

This game has fuzzy graphics that look worse than games I played 20 years ago. It has nausea inducing movement, no instructions or hints, the sound is terrible, and it's just all over uninspired. I didn't even make it half way through the free trial. There is not a single good thing I can say about this game. I like games that make me think, but this one doesn't give you any information to think about. Hands down the worst game I've ever tried.

I have played some very awkward games in the past (The Egyptian Prophecy from Kheops Studios comes to mind), but this one has to take first place. I was sure I could cope because I've ploughed through some awkward point and click games before. Well, I couldn't cope. The graphics are so blurry I wasn't even sure what I was supposed to see. The voices are very difficult to understand, even after I adjusted the game voice volume as high as it would go. It took me at least 10 minutes to make the motorcycle move after I started it. It's just not worth the effort. Anuman Interactive and Microids have made some poor games in the past (Syberia being a notable exception), but this one really takes the cake. Skip it.

The worst ever! Can't call it easy or challenging. Should call it frustrating. None of your categories describe how bad this game is. The worst part was moving around the screen. I got nauseous. Please spare us this kind of suffering.

I have played many games like this, but this is the worst I think I have ever tried. There are no instructions, help key, or anything else to let you know how to play the game. I have eventually acquired some objects to help, but there is no indication what to do with them or where to go. Poor design and poor play. Graphics are low quality and grainy. I finally deleted it from my computer.

The beginning of this made my head hurt. There are no instructions, no idea where to go, or how to get there, or how to use the items you pick up. I went to a "walkthrough" and it even confused me. You move around areas by moving your mouse. You can go up, down and around which made me dizzy. I never even got on the motorcycle before giving up and uninstalling this game. IF your looking for a real challenge, this game might be perfect for you but I would suggest you check out a walkthrough before even downloading it.
