I loved this game! Excellent graphics, great storyline. I was hooked from the first scene. My kids loved playing it too. We truly enjoyed the history lesson with it.

If you like dark, spooky games, you'll enjoy this. I'm not a fan or follower of storylines, but I actually took time to follow this one since it's based on historical information. Good graphics; challenging at times; overall enjoyable.

I was hooked and addicted to this game right from the get go. I couldn't stop playing. Usually I'm not one for "story" but this really held my interest as I really enjoyed the characters as you are trying to unravel the truth of the death and free the spirit of author Nathanial Hawthorne along with other Salem town "secrets." I also thought the graphics were awesome and how you move along from scene to scene. The game play is similar to many meaning you do some "hidden object" scenes to locate pieces to move along in the game. You also find ravens in the scenes of the game as those are your hints. I also found shortly in the game if you are stuck finding an item just click on the item to find in the list and it will show you what it looks like without taking away your hints. At least for me sometimes it helps to see the item and most of the time this did help but sometimes I did have to use a hint. This wasn't a game I got through quick as it took several hours but I couldn't stop playing until I got to the end as it got rather thinky at times. The puzzles for the most part were really nice and thinky as well but I did have to skip a couple of them. Oh and don't forget to find the 50 clovers as those are scattered about throughout the game and I never did locate them all. I think I found 36 out of 50. These clovers unlock additional hidden objects. Hey Game House I thank you for this great dark side game and hope to see similiar games to this. Five stars isn't enough. Another BOMB game. This ROCKS!
A really excellent HOG with wonderful graphics, a good story line and a rather spooky atmosphere. I found a few scenes in it quite eerie and I got goose bumps. The mini-games were just about the right challenge level and I didn't have to skip any, which makes a change, the hidden objects interesting to find, the overall feel of the game great. You can't really ask for more than that. I found the conclusion really satisfying and I felt good at the end of it. Definitely worth keeping this game on the computer and playing it again. You do have to wander about it in a bit and I did get a bit lost a few times finding my way between locations, but it didn't really detract from the game, because it actually added to the realism and made you feel like someone that was searching for answers in a strange place. It might have even added something to the game. Overall a cracking good game Highly recommended.
I'm about 25% into this game and I haven't seen any witch trials yet. It's more on the life (sensationalized death) of Nathaniel Hawthorne. It's a big file, over 200 mb. You collect hidden objects and then go from scene to scene trying to find a way to use a special object picked up here and there. If you're good at things like this, it's an excellent game choice. Me? I'll just have to wait until more people start posting at the forum to get unstuck. But I guess that's part of the fun. The graphics and sound are fantastic. It's historically accurate in the Platinum Edition blurb, but I notice in the game it says Salem is in New Hampshire? Oops. There is also a lot of leftover Edgar Allen Poe from the previous release. Good educational value.
The music and graphics are very good. I found some of the HOs very difficult to find but you do get clues. Definately not kid friendly due to content. I will not be purchasing this one

Since I've not seen too many TM games on Game House lately I've gotten into Hidden Object games but only those highly ranked.. I gave this one a try and at first was a bit disappointed.. I almost uninstalled it, it just did not seem like my type of "HO" game.. Once I truly got into it I saw why it was so popular..The graphic's are unbelievably gorgeous and after I started to understand the story line I fell in love with it..Sure I had to use the strategy guide but only because when I would reach the point of not knowing what to do or which way to go the guide was great with detailed help.. I played for hours and could not stop.. I even stayed up all night because I just could NOT quit.. I was amazed as well as mesmerized with the story and graphic's ... The only problem I really had was at the end I still had a few item's I had not used..I even went through the entire strategy guide and could see no use for them but all in all it was an amazing game.. If you haven't tried this one yet or were like me & installed it but didn't think it was your type of HO game for the first 30 minutes PLEASE reinstall and NO way this one could be a disappointment for anyone and use the strategy included if you get stuck.... I wouldn't recommend this one for children though as it is a very challenging game..Thanks Game House
now this is a great game. from the scary music to the eyes of Nathaniel Hawthorn blazing, to the wolf who appears out of nowhere and his scary growl, to the cat with one eye missing...so much...i LOVE it...very interesting HOG-usual HOG-find items, use specific items to further your progress, go from location to location. but the story and all the creepy stuff makes this stand out. like the Edgar Allen Poe HOG-good job guys. keep 'em coming...
I love it! After Edgar Allan Poe, this is grreatt. The colors are terrific; the visual effects almost put you in the scenes and the storyline puts this game right up there with the other great mysteries . Keep this kind coming. I will play this one again.

I had to make myself stop playing to go to bed. If hadn't been for work the next day I'd have been up all night. But it's something to look forward to on my days off.

This game provides some serious food for thought! Very challenging and engaging from the start. The graphic are some of the best and the producers make sure you get your scare in a couple of scenes, and I don't scare easy! The game is an awesome deal and one of the only ones that is worth replaying with several bonus editions upon completion. No way you will get tired of this game. Real worthy of 5 stars and your money and time!
Loved the game. Makes me want to go back and do some research on Nathaniel Hawthorne. Great graphics and not a boring minute.

It was a VERY interesting and not that easy to play. Makes you think and remember where you've been, what you've done and even what you have to do when you get there! The hint's only 'show' you where to go to use an object you've collected not how it's used or how to get there which was cool even though a little frustrating sometimes! It's only a help on a listed HO screen which is ok too. Forgot to look.find all the clovers (45/50) but that's due to concentrating on finding objects and task at hand! Some objects and things you have to find and do are not readily apparent and only work after you return to search the room again later for something else which was revealed much later in story which I think was very good planning and requires another thorough room search which keeps interest going I thought the history/story line was very interesting with the combination fact/fiction interweave as well. It's a game worth buying and will give you HOURS of play if you are not easily frustrated and give up. Got lost a few times and took a while to figure out where to go, what to use and do when I got there but that to me is what the "Hidden" part of the game entails too!
This game really grabbed me the first time I played it. After restarting 3 times due to the glitch that does not allow the game to save, I decided to find time to play it all the way through. I did that today, and was engrossed the whole time. It was easy to navigate around, clear when an object could or could not be used, and for the most part, the hiddlen objects were identifiable in the scenes. I did have to use a couple of hints. I loved the variety of puzzles, and although there was a "skip" option, managed to complete them all with some thought. It was fun to find the "Easter Eggs". I usually miss them in most games. I'd like to play it again and try to find all of the clovers and do the unlimited HOG, but I'll wait until the glitch is fixed. This is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. It was not ready for release with a problem as big as this one.
This was a doozy. It had excellent graphics and lots of different scenes. HO's were often challenging and as one reviewer stated you have to click on them precisely or you'll have to click several times to pick them up. I didn't find all the clovers even though I scoured every scene. Thanks for the Walkthrough already in the game. I was completely lost several times and had to use it. It sure beats having to get out of a game and Google a walkthrough, review it and them come back into the game. Oh, and thanks, GameHouse for offering a Platinum Edition that didn't cost me more with my FunPass. Overall, I think you'll like this game.
It was fun to play. Nice graphics and pretty good story line.

Really loved this game. The graphics were great, really loved the crow hints. You definitely have to think about what you need to do, but the hints are really helpful when you get stuck. There are lots of hidden extras and other little mini games outside the main game. Lots of scenes to search, and yes you have to go back and forwards a few times, but there is always a good reason. Dark and mysterious and it puts your detective skills to the test! Really good value for money ~ but definitely not one for small children ~ made me jump plenty of times (but then I am a wuss)
This was a very challenging game, but well worth it. You have to think about it. I didn't *quite* get the story, but it was interesting. Good replay value, since they make achievement awards for gathering certain items. The graphics are wonderful. I got lost once and couldn't find the house I was looking for, so there was a little back and forth, but not bad. It has somewhat frightening images, so caution with young ones (older kids will love it). I do wish I had read the end of the strategy guide BEFORE I played the game all the way through--I didn't want any spoilers, so I didn't use it, and found out only afterward that there were other games to play with the items I'd found. Oh, well. I'll probably play it again sometime.
Loved it! Learn something new each time you play and the historical facts are fascinating.

I love this game! I played the Edgar Allen Poe more than once so I'm pretty sure this one will be played more than once as well. I've never been one to follow the story much but the Midnight Mysteries are the exceptions. The graphics are excellent and well suited for the time period. I love everything about this game and game 5 well deserved stars.
