Thank you Gamehouse for selling this game i have played Hoyle Card games for many years , however lost it 3 years ago , am now enjoying again. Having speaking characters adds to the overall experience, and is great fun. Whether you want background music or very chatty opponents or just silence is entirely up to you, plus different levels of play. Great!!

I'm so glad I found this! I just got it loaded and have only just begun to mess around with it, but it's cool as anything! The cards are SO big, its great for me, I hate having to squint and strain to see the cards. There's all sorts of avatars for yourself and computer players, and you can create the faces too! The characters talk (comment) and you can set how often you want them to talk. I havent had a chance yet to see how silly their comments might be, but Im guessing they have a wide spectrum. I played a version of this years back and it was great, delighted to find it again. This is freaking awesome, I'm so excited about it- there's like two dozen assorted games, and then for "solitaire" alone you have the option of about two dozen more variations of solitaire!* There's various other options that differ by game as well, so its very customizable. Its as easy or hard as you make it! *(I haven't had time to count the actual number of games, that's just a round guess, but there's a ton.) :) I'm going to use some coins and buy this one for sure, its a card players dream. I don't normally care about buying games but this is something I would buy from a store if I had to. About the only drawback I can see is I haven't found an option to change card backs, but that's just eye candy, and this has a lot of alternative things to customize anyway. It is a huge game on the hard drive, but well worth the size.

Very tired of old software being repackaged as 'new' - especially when one puts "2012" in the title. If asked to point out significant changes between this version and the one available in the late 90's, I would be hard-pressed, other than a couple of new game variations. The biggest disappointment to me are the VERY low resolution graphics. Seeing any game labeled as "NEW" which forces me to either look at a tiny window or view pixelated, blown-out graphics is extremely frustrating. Pros - Decent A.I. - game selection is solid Cons - Basically same game as nearly 20 years ago. Poor graphics. If you have any of the earlier versions, don't bother paying for this - the original programming was done by Sierra, so it's not like you are even donating to the programs who originally came up with the design that was brilliant in its day.

I had an earlier version of this game which wasn't compatible with Windows 7 so upgraded to this version. I like the additional games, but this version seems to have fewer options for customizing the beginning screen. I don't like having to scroll through arrows to get to the game I want to play. The biggest negative for me is that while you can mark your favorite Solitaire games you can't go from one game to the next as you could in previous versions. The Solitaire light goes out in the list and you have to literally go into and out of another game, before you can go back to the Solitaire games. Annoying and a waste of time. I do like the games, but agree with the other reviewers that I expected better graphics and full screen capability in this newer "updated" version.

I have the 2004 version of this game and play it almost daily. I was excited to see the new version here. How disappointing to see that not much has changed in all these years. However.. this is a great card games suite. I highly recommend it. If you already own an older version don't bother updating, but if you don't this is the BEST card game you can get.

I have very mixed feelings about this game. On the one hand, the graphics are great, the characters are varied and can be amusing and there are plenty of games to play. However, the games that I like best (gin, rummy), the computer is INCREDIBLY lucky! Even on 'easy', the computer opponent 'knocks' after one or two hands. And I'm not talking occasionally, I mean time after time after time. I have played gin and rummy for years, so I am not new to the game. I don't expect to win every time or an easy ride, but it's ridiculous!! What's the point in a game where the computer wins hand after hand after hand after less than five moves MOST OF THE TIME? No chance of winning, so what's the point? Lazy programming, that's all it is. very disappointing. There are other games I do like, where the computer doesn't win as much, but the gin & rummy are my favourite card games.
