I bought this game, since in the preview, it seemed to be a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed Cinema Tycoon (the Original). This game is very frustrating, since it's easy to get stuck on one level, and you can't restart it. The only way to do it is to completely go bankrupt, but it a lot of times won't let you become bankrupt, so you're stuck without a way to restart the level, except to completely remove your entire profile, and start from the beginning at level one. I would never recommend this to anyone. It's horrible, and I spent many hours trying to find any sites with solutions to my problem, but if you can't go bankrupt, and it won't let you go on to the next day, you have to delete your profile and start back at the beginning. I usually like games like this, but usually there's a way to get unstuck. This one has nothing like that, and considering how many websites are up with the same information, I can only figure that a lot of others have had this problem. Don't waste your money!

I played the demo of Cinema Tycoon 2 (and ended up purchasing). I also have Cinema Tycoon 1. I found the game to be enjoyable. I think CT2 is an improvement over the first one and the main reason is you have goals for each level. You do not appear to be timed while doing it but it gives you some direction and hints for what things you should be focusing on. I think the controls and options are a little better in CT2 also. CT1 is mostly just sandbox mode, but it can be more difficult to play as you are not really getting much feedback. It's easy to put your efforts into misguided actions (such as spending too soon on a full staff or too many upgrades). In CT2, because you are playing with specific goals, you kinda have an idea of how much you should be spending in any one area, they also give you specific warnings on pitfalls to try to avoid. I think it may be easiest to get your feet wet with CT2 first, learn the basics, play with the feedback the game gives you and after you're a pro, THEN get CT1 where you can play in sandbox mode with little to no direction. Anyway, I think the game is a pretty original idea in light of what else is out there and all the Build a Lot clones and I think it's a fun theme. One thing I will say about this game is that it takes more than just a minute or two to see the effects of many of your actions (unlike a lot of other games on the market) so you really have to think about the soundness of your decisions and build a little at a time. Over time you will see positive results - there don't appear to be fast but huge big fixes to your theater problems in this game (which is more realistic anyway). A fun game and easy to lose yourself in.

The first four levels are too easy. After about 5 minutes you find yourself skipping the days because the result is so predictable. Then it gets a little more difficult but once you suss it out, again you're skipping the days. The only thing that happens as the game progresses is it just takes longer to get yourself up and running. Once you have, you just blast your competition out of the water by purchasing as many upgrades as possible in between each round. The strategy tips aren't just tips, they tell you exactly what to do in each level. Pretty easy really. This is definately a game for kids about 8 to 14 years old. Other than that, forget it...... Having said that I did find it immensely addictive and great fun, when I wasn't fast forwarding......

I love tycoon games and this is definitely one of my favorites. It starts out pretty easy but later on the game gets much harder. I love the progress reports and charts that you need to review before making decisions. It is definitely a brain game so be prepared to get frustrated at some points! I had to replay the later levels many times to get it right but it doesn't change my opinion of it. I like a game that I fail at sometimes because then I have to decide another way to go about it. For anyone who is into tycoon games you definitely need to play this one.
