When you've played a lot of match 3 games, it's hard to find one that is really different. This has a lot of things going on to keep you interested: the icons change so you aren't bored looking at the same handful of icons level after level. (Would be nice if they were animated, though.) The game boards are irregularly shaped, so it takes some time and effort to clear them, although there are explosives, artifacts, and tools to help you. You get to enjoy fish swimming around and behind the playing board. The point of it all is to earn money to design fish tanks, but you don't earn the money too fast, so you've got to keep playing. There are also some interesting mini-games for variety. Well worth playing.

Love this new Kahuna Reef game. It is fun and challenging. I like that I can set up my own reef. Glad I could purchase with my game credits.

It doesn't work on my PC.... unfortunely. It will be good if this problem will be fixed.

This Match 3 game has a lot going for it. Plenty of action (loved the bomb chain reactions) lots of levels, and clear layouts with plenty of beautiful colors. I played the Action mode (timed) and completed the Kahuna Quest and the Tiki Challenge. Most levels are completed without having to extend the time (give up a heart). I gave up 4 hearts altogether. This game was my after dinner fun time. There was also the variety of "charms" which made the job easier and the "power-ups" that you used when you were stuck. Building your own reef involved buying fish, food and reef items. My only complaint was that so little money was allocated to the reef, that it took way too long to finish building one. Very enjoyable game!!

It can be challenging but it's a pretty game and quite fun. It's prolly one of the best examples of how great match 3 games can be.

I'm enjoying this newest version of the game. I like the format and the talismans and charms aspect of it too. I'm addicted to match 3 type games so its no surprise this one fills the bill. I'm bouncing back and forth between this one and the Jewell Quest heritage. Different formats so most enjoyable.

If you haven't played 1 and 2, you should try those first - this one is a little bit harder. If the game doesn't work, as reported by another review, try setting the properties on your shortcut (compatibility tab) to 'run as administrator'. I like how you can buy fish and stuff for your reef now. My sister and I love to play mouse party. They did a great job on this game, and kept all the best parts from the earlier versions. As for another review about playing over to better your score, you can just create a new user name and do it that way. Very fun! you should try it!

I love all the Big Kuhuna games, but this is my FAVORITE. Easy to play, and not to mind boggling. Especially like to be able to set up my own reefs, with fish, food and different reef decor. Great play for adults or children. The graphic's are beautiful and it's really relaxing listening to the ocean as background sound. The mini games are quick and fun and the power ups help in a pinch.

I do not like Big Kahuna Reef 3 as well as the other two games.. This game doesn't seem to have as much action as the other two games. I do not like the sections of the game tht oil spillsin them. it is almost imposible to remove the oil spills once they have started to come up on the board game.

I went online to try to find some info on this game... and couldn't find much. However, Amazon had some reviews, and they were very positive, so I thought I would give it a try. It is just awful... The graphics are sub-par, the music is horrible, the sound effects are annoying (and they do not seem to make much sense, just random sounds for the same action), and the game was very slow to respond, very glitchy. It might be the worst match 3 game I have ever played. It's not even fun, you earn money to decorate your own reef.. but the fish and decorations are insanely expensive. You would have to play for days to be able to afford more than one or two. After playing for over an hour, I could afford one type of fish, and two decorations. The boards themselves were nothing special either. You have generic bombs that blow a few blocks up.. a fish net that takes one block out... and some boards have fish you can free, but it does you no good.. you do not get to keep them, nor does it give you another fish to buy. I do not recommend, there are many very good match 3 games out there.

Good match-3 game, but the difficulty plateaus about 2/3 through the levels.

i enjoy this game. i like the challenges each level and it takes awhile before you can start your reef. the game is challenging as you go higher, but not unmanageable. i can handle that, even in the timed mode. i also like the realism of the fish. very cool.

I loved the first 2 installments of this game and I also love this one. Be forewarned, this version is harder than the other 2! Some pieces take many matches to unlock. I liked having charms and talismans to use to complete the levels. I also liked the challenge of creative matchmaking to produce bombs as well as making the Tiki tower get all the way to the top to activate its bomb producing firepower. Another welcome addition was having a powerup that not only erases the piece, but also erases the background. There are enough new features in this game to me to make the purchase worthwhile.

I have the Original Kahuna Reef, Kahuan Reef 2 and now Kahuna Reef 3. I love that there are so many levels to play with lots of power ups, etc. It is a game that I can quickly come back to and play a few levels to unwind. Unfortunately, if you decide to start a new game, all the power ups and talisman that you earn as the game progresses are available from level 1 so you can never completely start the game over. The game will tell you that you have earned xxx charm but you've been using it since level 1. When I want to start a game over to beat my own score, that's what I want to do! With all the extras it is not a level playing field.

It's been awhile Reflexive Entertainment...looking forward to more GREAT games from you ;) Big Kahuna Reef 3 is a Match 3 lover's delight in so many ways...EXCELLENT & unique M3 puzzles( there are MANY of them!)which can be quite challenging especially in timed mode. The beauty of the Kahuna Reef series is the the two modes of playing--relax & timed AND you can still earn money in relax mode to create your own aquariums w/ different fish species(game defines each species & locations they inhabit), different types of food and different corals. Some days we need a challenge and other days we need our zen moments ;) KR3 has added new power ups & also mini games which is nice when you want a change of pace from M3 playing. GREAT graphics, sound effects & music makes playing this game a delightful experience. Another plus is that you can add up to 4 friends to play along with you. Put on your snorkel gear & dive into the FUN! Other great games from Reflexive are recommended below.

I enjoy playing the game. With out instructions it took a few minutes to figure how to get into the place to add things to the tank. But once I figured it out I enjoyed playing the game very much.

I found this version to be very slow responding. At times it looks like it is in slow motion. During these times you have to sit and twittle you thumbs because you cannot make another move until the board comes to a stop. I recommend passing on this game!
