I'm a big fan of the virtual villagers games so finding this made my day! I would highly recommend to those who like this particular genre.

I didn't get very far because I found it very boring and not much thought is required

Was nice really not a complex game all you do is set your players to work and move on. was ok.

The mini games are different and fun. Not much to do on the main game but assign workers to different areas. You do have to balance it so you collect enough of the right items. Not fast paced at all and there is nothing wrong with that. I think kids would enjoy it.

This game falls in the category of what my daughter and I call a "Cute Little People" game or what the industry calls a casual sim game. If you love Sprouts, Habitat Rescue - Lion's Pride, or Little Folk of Faery, you'll love Avalon for its gorgeous graphics, tons of tasks to complete and relatively short time to complete a task. The game also has four completely different locations which is really nice. You can create your own custom Fairy Queen. Then you direct your Fairy Queen and 5 "Young Fairy"s to gather the three resources in the game (pollen, food or magic) or Chant or Research. The Fairy Queen can do everything at the highest level and is the only one who can pick up objects. As the Young Fairies do more of a task, they get better until they specialize and turn into one of the three types of specialist fairies. Along the way you can play 4 different minigames to improve your fairies' abilities, create new fairies from pollen and learn new spells that your Fairies can chant. Though the basic mechanics of the game are simple, the game offers a wide variety of tasks from researching spells to inspiring animals, to animating statutes. Each of the 4 locations is based on a different theme and there's a variety of experiences in each one. Avalon goes a lot faster than Sprouts or Habitat and there's a lot more to do, so I spent much of my time watching the fairies perform new tasks rather in other games where it seems to take ages to complete one task. Avalon's an immersive game that I felt compelled to finish. Unfortunately once I finished it, the mechanics of the game mean there's no much replay value. That was a disappointment, because it was an enchanting game. But then I play a lot of HOGs that have little replay as well.
