Age of Japan Deluxe is an incredible puzzle game, which shines with unique graphics. All 40 game levels are rendered with Japanese style and show different seasons of the year. Swap game pieces to clear filled cells in two game modes. In the Arcade mode you must clear cells in a limited time. A more relaxing play experience comes with the Puzzle mode, which lets you clear cells at your own pace.

This game has basically the same format you would expect in a match 3 game, make matches to uncover the background with later levels having locked blocks. It's these levels with the locked blocks and narrow columns where the real challenges lie. Luckily there are also bonus levels which let you earn power ups. The backgrounds are lovely and the play is fast paced. It does seem that l lot depends on luck, even when you try to develop a strategy. Although there is no storyline, it was a welcome change from other match 3's.

Sound affects are very important to me. I wasn't sure about this game as some of the sounds are off-putting, especially the "wow". I haven't heard that "voice" since the early games. I was rushing through my free hour, but I think it would be fun to try more strategy. I liked several of the ideas for the boxes you need to remove (for lack of a better name) - the time clock, the multi-color, the multiplier, and the overall bomb like one. I'd like it if the bomb removed all the similar pieces instead of randomly. I liked that the rock could be dropped off. I liked that you weren't badgered by a tutorial. The graphics were a little low quailty, but not bad. Not sure how old the game is, but several newer ideas. Didn't use the broom at first, but it was helpful as the levels progressed.
