What in the heck are House Points?

In response to one of our most popular questions, GameHouse offers the following explanation in order to clear up the confusion:

GameHouse, name withheld upon request, thankfully adds value to market insistence based on dynamic market force fields. Not witholding points, aka house, albeit superfluous, ie. "bonus", it can be said that such incentives are nontheless calethetic. By adding, thus multiplying, said structure, one can calculate the common denominator, thereby applying the result to an ultimate reward. It can be said, and certainly has, that this unprecendented and unanticipated approach is not only unique, but unequivocably original.

Be sure to pass this information along to others that may inquire similarly.

Okay, now seriously:
House Points are a rough indicator of how often and how well you play GameHouse games. Different games will cause your House Points to increase at different rates; we invite you to experiment to see which game makes your points increase fastest! (House points cannot be redeemed for cash or prizes)

I just made High Score!  Why can’t I see my name on the list?

Close the High Score window and reopen it.  Please note that it may take as long as 10 minutes for the High Score list to be updated.

I just gambled away all my casino points!  How can get more?

If your casino balance drops below $1.00, it will automatically reset to $5,000.00.  Just close your game window and open it again (don’t you wish you could do this in real life?)

If you’re playing Vegas Solitaire, you won’t be able to play if your balance drops below $50.00.  In that case, just go to the Roulette table and place all of your chips on one number: you’ll either win big, or lose everything (your balance will reset to $5,000).  Either way, you’ll be able to go back to Vegas Solitaire and play several more hands.

How do I clear my Cache?

I'm having trouble running a game, or games, that I had no trouble running before.  Why? Your Internet Cache may need to be cleared.

If you are running Microsoft Internet Explorer (on a PC), here's how:

1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer.

2. Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel.

3. Double Click "Internet Options".

4. Click the button that says "Delete Files..." under the heading Temporary Internet files.

5. Click OK when the dialogue box comes up that says, "Delete all files in the Temporary Internet Files folder?"

6. Restart your computer.

If you are running Netscape Communicator, here's how:

1. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.

2. Click the + next to Advanced and select Cache.

3. Click the Clear Disk Cache button.

4. Clear Memory Cache button.

5. Click OK.

2. Click Advanced, under Web Browser.

3. Click the button that says "Empty Now".

The steps for Netscape on a Mac are no different than those for a PC.

How do I adjust my screen resolution?

In order for the games at GameHouse to function correctly, your screen resolution must be set to at least 800x600.

To adjust your screen resolution:

1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

2. Double-click Display.

3. Click the Settings tab.

4. Check the slider in the "Screen area" or "Desktop Area" box.  Move the slider towards "More" if it says anything less than 800x600.

Why can’t I see the bottom of my game window?

For all of our games, you should be able to see a navigation bar going across the bottom that says:

PLAYING AS: <your name> CHAT  HIGH SCORES  RULES  CLOSE

If you cannot see this bar, your screen resolution is probably set too low; it needs to be set to at least 800x600.  Please see How do I adjust my screen resolution? for more information.

AOL and CompuServe users: If your screen resolution is set to 800x600 and you still cannot see the navigation bar at the bottom, please read Note to AOL and CompuServe users below.

Note to AOL and CompuServe users:

If you are using the AOL or CompuServe browser, and your screen resolution is set to 800x600, you may not be able to see the bottom of the game window, which will prevent you from playing certain games (especially casino games).

You have several options:

1.  Use another browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, after connecting to AOL or CompuServe.

2.  Increase your screen resolution to a setting greater than 800x600. See "How do I adjust my screen resolution?" for instructions.

3.  There should be a scroll bar to the right of your browser—not game—window.  Scroll down until you can see the navigation bar.  This will cut off the top of the game window, but you will still be able to play the game.

I have WebTV.  Can I still play your games?

All of our games require either Java or Shockwave support to play.  WebTV does not support either Java or Shockwave, so our games will not work with WebTV.

Do you have any downloadable games for Macintosh computers?

Yes! Click on this link to our store and you'll find several Mac OS X supported titles.
